Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
The forecasts had been calling for rain all week, so when it was time to get everything set up for the picnic and it was sunny and warm outside instead, well, that was hopefully a good sign of things to come.
There were tables set up all around the lawn of the school with blue and gold tableclothes and chairs, and the usual buffet of food (and ice cream!) was waiting for hungry folks to dig in. There was also a second table with nametags and lists to help the new people locate their siblings and roommates.
Once the food was ready and the tables were glittered, everything was set for a very pleasant picnic indeed.
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
Still, he found himself vaguely relieved to find that at least whoever had been in charge of the name tags had been at the top of their game. No Forsythe Pendleton in sight. Just plain old Jughead. As much as the thought of literally labeling himself with anything was annoying, that was still a comfort.
So he slapped the nametag on, then took a look around. So. This was Fandom.
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
Anyway, she was here now with a little border of flowers and vines drawn around her name on her nametag, and looking around for someone with "Jughead" on theirs. Or was that supposed to be a description? She wasn't --
"Oh, there you are!" Yes, that was a barefoot elf hurrying over to you, Jughead. "Hello! I'm Merrill, and they told me I was supposed to help introduce you to this place."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
But, he wasn't.
"Uh." That was an excellent start, wasn't it? "... Hi." Better. "I'm Jughead."
A beat.
"But I guess you already knew that."

He hoped he wasn't staring at her ears. "There was someone with a sword on fire at the airport. I... think that had to be a safety violation."

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
The assessment of someone who thought making deals with demons was perfectly understandable so long as you understood the risks should likely be taken with a grain of salt.
She fluttered both hands in a gesture that looked like it started off as a shrug and veered sharply off into an overly excitable wave of greeting. "That sounds about right for this island, though. Unexpected things happen all the time."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
Okay, despite himself, he sounded intrigued.
Mostly wary. But also intrigued. He heaved his backpack a little further up his shoulder.
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
"I hope that doesn't all seem like too much," she added quickly.
Hey, at least she hadn't brought up the creepy alternate realities yet.
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
Then, slowly, he decided. "I'm sure I'll be fine." Which was a lie, but he honestly didn't know what to make of what she was saying.
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
"It's not every day, though,"she assured him quickly. "Usually just on certain weekends, at least for the bigger things. It's all right, I'm sure you'll be fine. There's lots of people here who look out for each other, and I'll do what I can if you need it."
