Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
The forecasts had been calling for rain all week, so when it was time to get everything set up for the picnic and it was sunny and warm outside instead, well, that was hopefully a good sign of things to come.
There were tables set up all around the lawn of the school with blue and gold tableclothes and chairs, and the usual buffet of food (and ice cream!) was waiting for hungry folks to dig in. There was also a second table with nametags and lists to help the new people locate their siblings and roommates.
Once the food was ready and the tables were glittered, everything was set for a very pleasant picnic indeed.
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

As well as a small box of homemade pastries for the teacher he'd be guiding around, whom he hadn't met yet.

Philomena wouldn't have even bothered speaking to the odd man with the serial killer cheekbones, but she'd just realized she was knackered and she hadn't eaten in at least a day.

"Not precisely, but similar," Hannibal answered. And then, because she was a strange woman and he'd had no luck finding his 'teaching buddy' yet, "Would you happen to be Philomena Cunk?"

"Not at all," Hannibal assured her. "I was told to expect you. And these," he held out the pastry box, "are for you. I'm to help you and inform you about this place."

None of which was particularly relevant.
"In any event, I should inform you that this island is somewhat stranger than merely the architecture being out of place. Are you familiar with the concept of multiple dimensions?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2017]
"Like when you sit down on a chair but you forget where it was and you miss it by inches?" Philomena said, pulling a face. "That's funny when it happens to somebody else, sure."

He nodded at the picnic. "The people here come from many different worlds, many different times. You may encounter a number of things here that are unusual or completely impossible in your world."
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2017]
She waited for those words to make some amount of sense. When they didn't, she made them make sense.
"Like people wearing several watches at once?" she said. "Or is it more like there's multiple time lines running through bits here and there?"
It had to be noted she meant physical time lines.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2017]
Call it a hunch based on the rest of what she'd said.
"No. I mean that I have had students from the eighteenth and nineteenth century, students who were ghosts, and students who were from other planets. This island is stranger than most people are accompanied with."

He was also thinking it really might not matter.
"Never mind." He waved that off. "What brings you here?"
