Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2015, Early Saturday Evening [Part 2]

As the last new graduate sat down with their diploma, a roaring noise could be heard in the distance. The noise quickly got louder, and then it wasn't so distant at all as dragons began to swarm around the lawn.

Some of the dragons were real, with scales and tails and fire in their breath. Following in their wake were smaller, squishier dragons, in a variety of tasty jello flavors.

As the dragons descended upon the graduates, the Fandom graduation protocols kicked in, and an invisible barrier came down to separate the graduates from the rest of the audience.

Good luck, graduates. Hopefully there were some brave knight types among you!

After the last of the dragons had been slain or squished, the school's sprinkler system kicked in to put out any fires.

#sorrynotsorry grads, but y'all look cuter when you're wet anyway.

Finally, the invisible barrier lifted, and everyone was released.

Well. Not only was Sparkle slightly scorched and covered in Jello, but he was slightly scorched, covered in Jello, and soaked, now.

"C'mon," he groused, wet hair clinging to his face. "They couldn't have turned the sprinklers on when we were being attacked with fire and water-soluble gelatin monsters? I'M NOT GOING TO MISS YOU, FANDOM."

"I'm trying to figure out whether it would've been a good idea to get you a bigger blaster or not," Atton said casually, hands in his pockets as he strolled towards Sparkle. "I mean, on the one hand, bigger holes. On the other, the splashback probably would've gotten bigger and jello-y-er." Beat. "Told you that stuff was evil."

"But still delicious," Sparkle declared, making a face at his blaster, gummed up with jello and dripping wet like the rest of him. Sigh. "This just means I'm going to eat it vengefully from here on in, you know."

Hannibal wasn't there immediately when the fight finished; he took the time to go to his office and fetch a bag first.

From which he was now pulling a large towel. "Congratulations." On graduating, on the speech, on the dragon-fighting.

"Oh my god you're my hero," Sparkle declared, making a reach for that towel. Yes, please and thank you, yes. "Thanks."

A beat.

"Dragons. I can add 'dragonslayer' to the resume that nobody's going to believe, now. That's kind of awesome. I think?"

He wasn't completely sure.

"But Fandom's going to miss you," Kathy declared, not laughing at his bedraggled appearance.

Sparkle stuck out his tongue at her.

"Just wait. Someday it'll be your turn, Mouse."

Isabelle emerged surprisingly unscathed from the battle, considering she'd gone into it with all she had. Maybe it was the purity of her heart, as she'd once told her brothers.

She felt a little better, having done something physical like that.

Was Robert going to ruin that by showing up? Hopefully not, because here he was.

"That isn't a regular occurrence at these events, is i?" he asked, casting a glance at the other graduates and their relatives. "I feel as though we would have heard reports about dragons if it was."

"It's not, it's just a regular Fandom occurrence," Isabelle replied, pushing her hair back with a glance away. "Hi, Dad."

Kathy was cheering their victory, doing her best to hold up all three signs at once.

Oh. Yay.

Karina was soaked through--though not cold at least--and covered in Jello.

Groooooss.

She wasn't scorched, but that had less to do with her own good luck and more to do with... well, it was hard to properly scorch her.

Grimacing at the sword still in her hand, she said grumpily, "Yeah, I really needed that, Island. Thanks ever so much."

"Should've packed a weapon," Atton said, wandering her way once he was done talking to Sparkle. "I mean, these things are fiendishly predictable."

Karina glowered at him, then sniffed.

"I did pack a weapon," she said, since she'd brought herself. "But the sword sufficed."

"But how would you have felt properly graduated without it?" Kathy asked, fighting off a grin.

Poorly.

"Now you know for a fact that you've earned that degree. With sweat, blood, and, umm, Jell-O."

That startled a laugh out of her, though she tried to turn it into more of a huff.

"Oh, honestly," Karina said, shaking a bit of gunk off of her sleeve. "I can't wait for it to be your turn. I hope you get covered in, like, marshmallow fluff or honey or something."

Of course the one thing Flick's mother had been able to come to had turned into this. He was a little dirty but no worse than that. Afterward, he checked in with his mother, who was just confused, and Joi, who was a little taken aback herself.

But, they were both okay and that was important.

Emma didn't really notice the sprinklers, she could have sworn that that last dragon exploded right as it was about to collide with her.

She looked around, trying to figure who'd done it.

After fending off the dragon Barry tossed the sword away and went back to work on his phone. After a few minutes there was a cheerful beeping sound and Barry broke into a grin. "Sweet."

And then he continued to work on his phone.

Such a nerd.

Sia sighed again as the sprinklers went on.

Whatever, they'd gotten through and she was still pretty.

After Sparkle and Karina, he was getting that impression, strangely enough.
