Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2015, Early Saturday Evening [Part 2]

As the last new graduate sat down with their diploma, a roaring noise could be heard in the distance. The noise quickly got louder, and then it wasn't so distant at all as dragons began to swarm around the lawn.

Some of the dragons were real, with scales and tails and fire in their breath. Following in their wake were smaller, squishier dragons, in a variety of tasty jello flavors.

As the dragons descended upon the graduates, the Fandom graduation protocols kicked in, and an invisible barrier came down to separate the graduates from the rest of the audience.

Good luck, graduates. Hopefully there were some brave knight types among you!

Atton shrugged. "Well, at least unlike half the people I know, you actually know how to tackle a dragon," he said, "And you didn't go for the sticky option."

"Of course not. The ones that breathe fire are the real threats," she said. "With some organization we probably could have pitted both types against each other, I'm sure."

"Maybe we should put our heads together and write down a suggestion list for the next crop of students," Atton said. "'Pack towels. Coordinate your attacks tactically. Bring a really big damn blaster.'"
notconflicted: (b&w looking down)

"If students aren't armed when they come here, it's really their own fault," she said. "Next year's seniors may need a planning session before the ceremony."

Atton's mouth quirked. "Probably," he said.

He took a breath. "So, you ready for what comes next?" he said.

He wasn't assuming she was leaving right away, but going by what he'd picked up of the state of her galaxy, he kind of hoped she was, to help people out-- even if it was going to be weird, not having her presence on the island.

"Aside from getting rid of the last of my unnecessary things and finding out the location of where I should meet my father, yes," Sia said.

"Packing light?" Atton asked. "Probably makes sense, considering."

He wasn't going to ask after the dog. That was just asking for trouble.
notconflicted: (sitting)

"I have to. I probably won't be anywhere permanent anytime soon," she said. "I need what I can carry with me, for the most part." Eh, she wasn't thrilled about that part.

"You get used to it," Atton promised her. "Emergency rations, couple changes of clothing, some minor tools, weapons, that's all you need, really."
notconflicted: (mostly neutral)

"I remember. It should be interesting to get back to that. I'm sure I'll realize then how spoiled I've been able to be here," she admitted.

"You think you're ready?" Atton asked.

And damn it, he was apparently actually worried, here. Not that he didn't agree with this decision, but he knew it wasn't going to be great.

"I've been ready for the last three years," Sia told him. "And I'll be resuming my training once I get back there."

"Well, go kick some ass, then," Atton said, sticking his hands in his pockets. "And, uh, congratulations on making it this far. Not that I had any doubts."
notconflicted: (you're okay)

Atton privately wasn't so sure if he would be, but he wasn't about to say that. Kind of beat the point of disappearing. "Maybe we can grab some coffee sometime, then," he said, "You can fill me in on the situation back home, or something."
notconflicted: (listening)

Monday wasn't too bad. He could stay until Monday, at least. "Sure," he said, "I'll come find you at the Perk in the morning."

So maybe they could end this on a good note.
