Daniel? Was still telling himself that he was a calm, mature and responsible adult.

Hopefully if he said it enough times, it'd actually sink in.

"Hi, Janet," he said, his voice managing to sound vaguely normal.

Janet, who was totally clueless about anything Daniel might have been worried about, smiled widely when he came in.

Then she remembered the whole student/teacher dynamic and tried to look serious. She failed miserably, of course.

"Hey," said Janet. "How's it going?"

Daniel found that he couldn't look her in the eyes. Because that wasn't suspicious or anything.

"It's, um, been, um, interesting." Yes. Interesting was a good word.

Janet frowned, confused. "Did Marty talk to you?" she asked quietly.

Daniel looked confused at that. "Marty? Who's... Marty's the guy you're rooming with, right? Why would he be talking to me?"

Daniel didn't want to think how much Marty would know, considering he was Janet's roommate and all.

"Marty Blank," said Janet. "Yes, my roommate, though I--" She glanced around. "I haven't had a chance to tell you about his latest project yet. Come on."

She motioned him toward the librarian's office ~~and a conversation that should really be labelled NFB.~~

Daniel followed her, wandering if this Marty Blank's latest project involved nudity.

Janet shut the librarian's office door behind them. "Okay," she said. "You first. Because something's obviously upsetting you, Daniel. What's wrong?"

"WhatonEarthisitwiththesecondfloorcorridorandwhatdoyouguysgetuptothere?"

Wow. So much for calm.

"What?" asked Janet. She frowned at Daniel. "Could you repeat that, please? Slower this time."

Daniel look a deep breath. "What is it about the second floor of the dorms and what do you guys do there?"

Good. That sounded saner.

Uh-oh. Janet blushed. And hoped Daniel didn't notice.

"The second floor is generally considered the most sociable floor," she said. "And what do you mean 'what do you guys do there?'"

Unfortunately for her, Daniel noticed the blush.

"I've been hearing things about what you all get up to there."

Daniel felt himself blushing to match as well.

"Oh," said Janet. She gulped. Audibly, possibly. "Really. What kind of things have you been hearing?"

"Um. Well, things like boykissy and spin the bottle and streaking through the common room."

Was it just him, or was it getting hot in here?

"No one's streaked through the common room that I know of yet," said Janet quickly. Maybe Daniel wouldn't notice the complete lack of mention of any boykissy or spin the bottle?

Nope, not just him.

Daniel was very relieved at that part.

"And, um, what about the others?"

"Spin the Bottle and boykissing?" asked Janet. "Yeah, there's been some of that."

Maybe he wouldn't ask for details. Or about girlkissy.

Daniel coughed, looking uncomfortable. "Um, is it a regular thing? And are they the only things?"

"Why are you suddenly asking about these things?" asked Janet. "Is the boykissing a regular thing? Um--" She paused and gave Daniel a disbelieving look. "Have you met the guys who live on the second floor? And I think Spin the Bottle only happened the once." She shook her head. "What other things are you thinking about?"

Oh, she did not just ask that. Why were they having this conversation sober? This was not the kind of conversation you had with your boyfriend while sober.

"I, um, might have been talking to another student about these things," Daniel confessed. "And I've met some of them. A few of them."

Daniel's face was now the color of a tomato. "Girlkissing?" he muttered.

"Which student?" asked Janet. It was possible she was going to have to kill someone and hide the body. "So you know what they're like. Hormonal teenagers."

Janet blushed again. "Um." She glanced away quickly, then back at Daniel and started fidgeting. "There might've been some of that too," she muttered.

Blair Sandburg," Daniel replied. "He's only a freshman; don't hurt him."

Daniel's shoes were suddenly very fascinating. "Um. Okay. With Vala and Elizabeth?"

He could barely believe that he had asked that.

"He's only a very dead freshman," said Janet.

"Not with Vala," said Janet. Since she could figure out that Daniel was asking about her specifically and she figured she may as well get that revelation over with.

She really needed to be drunk right now.

"Don't blame him. I was the one asking him."

Daniel almost relaxed for a split second, before his brain processed what she had said. His jaw dropped slightly, and for a moment all he could do was stare at Janet.

"You... ah, you mean, um, you and, um."

Yep. Brain had just exploded there.
