"It's not everyday I learn that my girlfriend's been kissing another girl," Daniel said, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose.

He looked up at her. "Janet, I love you. The fact that you also have... something with Elizabeth doesn't change that."

"It just--evolved," said Janet. She slid down against the wall until she was sitting on the ground. Her head was starting to ache.

"But it's changing things," she said. "Isn't it?"

"How long has it been going on?" Daniel asked quietly.

He nodded. "It has to," he said honestly. "It's just this whole other thing I didn't know about you."

"On and off since shortly after we met," said Janet. She drew her knees up to her chest and leaned her head back against the wall again.

"Is it the thing with Liz or knowing that I'm attracted to women?" asked Janet. Her head was throbbing. "Or both? The fact that I'm attracted to women shouldn't be anything huge. It just--is."

"That long?" Daniel hadn't really known what to expect, but he was pretty sure it hadn't been that.

"Yes, no, I don't. I know it's not a huge thing. Really. I'm just having a little trouble with it at the moment. And I the fact that it's Elizabeth as well." Daniel really wasn't sure what to think anymore. He should have had more coffee this morning.

"Yes." Janet wrapped her arms around her knees and leaned her forehead on them. The light wasn't really helping her head right now. "That long. You and I weren't exactly a steady item for a long time either, you know."

"What kind of trouble are you having with it?" she asked dully. "And why is the fact that it's Liz also problematic?"

"I know," Daniel sighed. He looked across at her. "Are you okay?"

"Well, it's unexpected to start with. I came in here to ask you about streaking in the common room
and it led into this," he said. "As for Elizabeth, well, I didn't expect that of her, much less that she'd be with you."

"My head is killing me," said Janet, her voice muffled because she kept her head down. "It hasn't been a good couple of days."

"Why would you think I would be streaking in the common room?" Janet sighed. "We clicked. In a different way than you and I did. And yes, rumor has it that the adult Elizabeth Weir is much more serious and businesslike, but I've never met her."

"And I'm not helping with this. I'm sorry."

"Well, I know that you've had some wild parties, and such," Daniel replied, looking slightly embarrassed. "Um, I kinda got that impression." He blushed. "And I've not seen much of the young Elizabeth to compare, but the adult Elizabeth had a well-developed sense of responsibility, and certainly took on enough of it."

"Well, it happens when you find out your girlfriend's also into girls and has been seeing one behind your back for a while now," said Janet. "Let's face it, I'm not exactly a model for good behavior here."

Janet shrugged, which was a little awkward given the position she was sitting in. "Wild parties? Yes, we've definitely had those. I think I've even invited you to some of the Colorado-only ones." She smiled. "That hasn't changed, believe me. We all overwork ourselves."

OOC: Going to go out; back in a few hours.

"Well, no," Daniel agreed. "But I'm sure I've got to be at fault here as well. You wouldn't be with her if I had paid more attention to you, would you?"

He nodded. "You have done, I've just not managed to make any of them." He laughed slightly. "Somehow I could have guessed that."

"Everything was very messed up for a very long while there," said Janet. "I don't really know what else to say about it."

"Well, we've only had two," said Janet. "And I don't know how not to overwork myself. Besides, keeping busy helps me cope with everything."

"Apparently I struggle with adult relationships," Daniel shrugged. "And my memories of that time are still vague, so I can't be more helpful than that."

"That's more reassuring. I was under the impression that there had been more." He smiled. "I'm not sure if any of us know how to not do that."

"Adult relationships? I didn't have any relationships after my marriage ended, Daniel. I've practically forgotten what it's like to be in a relationship." She was going to have to take a triple dose of ibuprofen after this. "I know you don't remember it clearly. That's why I try not to bring it up often."

"Only the two for those of us from Stargate Command," said Janet. She grinned wryly, even if her head was still resting on her knees and Daniel couldn't see her. "That's not to say there haven't been other wild parties you haven't been invited to."

"At least your marriage was on this planet," Daniel pointed out. "And before Sha're, there was really only Sarah."

Daniel gulped nervously. "I don't want to know what you get up to at these parties, do I?"

"I know I haven't mentioned much about my ex to you, Daniel, but he wasn't Prince Charming." He'd been just about the opposite, in fact.

Janet shook her head. "Daniel, it's not like I've slept with half the dorm, for crying out loud." She rolled her eyes. "Honestly, I have a bit of a wild streak. And I've changed. I've had to."

"So we're both pretty bad with relationships then?"

"How many of the dorm have you slept with?" Daniel's eyes widened as the question slipped out. "Janet, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that."

"Can we just say it's been a while and leave it at that?" asked Janet.

"Oh, didn't you?" asked Janet, whipping her head up and narrowing her eyes at Daniel. Her head throbbed even harder with the sudden motion. "Then just what did you mean?"

"That sounds like a good idea," Daniel agreed.

"Well maybe I just want to know what else you've done behind my back," he replied, staring back at her.

"You seem to think it's the entire dorm," said Janet. She held her breath and counted to ten, then exhaled slowly, biting back the urge to say anything else that would make it worse.

"Well at least I'd have been thinking it would have only been the male half," Daniel snapped.

"Okay, Daniel, enough," said Janet flatly. "I understand that you're upset, but now you're just lashing out."

Daniel sighed, slumping down into his chair, deflated.

"What now?" he asked quietly, echoing her earlier words.

"You don't trust me," said Janet dully. She let her head drop forward again. "You didn't in the first place, or you wouldn't have come in here asking about parties and streaking and already half-believing that I'd done all kinds of things." She smiled bitterly. "Not that I'm exactly a model for behavior. So I don't know what to do now."

Daniel hesitated for a moment. "No, I guess I didn't," he sighed. "No, wait," he corrected himself. "I do trust you. With my life. But all this is different. And with these stories cropping up, I didn't stop and think. I freaked out. I did see what people did in college, even if I didn't join in. And I guess I just saw these things happening here."
