"No one's streaked through the common room that I know of yet," said Janet quickly. Maybe Daniel wouldn't notice the complete lack of mention of any boykissy or spin the bottle?

Nope, not just him.

Daniel was very relieved at that part.

"And, um, what about the others?"

"Spin the Bottle and boykissing?" asked Janet. "Yeah, there's been some of that."

Maybe he wouldn't ask for details. Or about girlkissy.

Daniel coughed, looking uncomfortable. "Um, is it a regular thing? And are they the only things?"

"Why are you suddenly asking about these things?" asked Janet. "Is the boykissing a regular thing? Um--" She paused and gave Daniel a disbelieving look. "Have you met the guys who live on the second floor? And I think Spin the Bottle only happened the once." She shook her head. "What other things are you thinking about?"

Oh, she did not just ask that. Why were they having this conversation sober? This was not the kind of conversation you had with your boyfriend while sober.

"I, um, might have been talking to another student about these things," Daniel confessed. "And I've met some of them. A few of them."

Daniel's face was now the color of a tomato. "Girlkissing?" he muttered.

"Which student?" asked Janet. It was possible she was going to have to kill someone and hide the body. "So you know what they're like. Hormonal teenagers."

Janet blushed again. "Um." She glanced away quickly, then back at Daniel and started fidgeting. "There might've been some of that too," she muttered.

Blair Sandburg," Daniel replied. "He's only a freshman; don't hurt him."

Daniel's shoes were suddenly very fascinating. "Um. Okay. With Vala and Elizabeth?"

He could barely believe that he had asked that.

"He's only a very dead freshman," said Janet.

"Not with Vala," said Janet. Since she could figure out that Daniel was asking about her specifically and she figured she may as well get that revelation over with.

She really needed to be drunk right now.

"Don't blame him. I was the one asking him."

Daniel almost relaxed for a split second, before his brain processed what she had said. His jaw dropped slightly, and for a moment all he could do was stare at Janet.

"You... ah, you mean, um, you and, um."

Yep. Brain had just exploded there.

"Would you rather I blamed you?" she asked.

Janet sighed. She was sure she was beet red. "Yes," she said, looking away again. "Me and Liz. We've made with the girlkissy."

This was really not her week.

Daniel winced. "Um. No."

This? Was not something Daniel had ever expected to deal with. Ever.

He might have flailed just a bit. "But she's a girl?"

Yes, Daniel, that's why it's called girlkissy. Alas his brain was no longer capable of adding two and two together.

"Sacrifice the freshman on the altar of blame, Daniel," said Janet. "It's what everyone does in a high school."

Janet buried her face in her palm for a minute before she answered. "Trust me, Daniel, I definitely noticed that," said Janet. And then she blushed again. "It just so happens that I like both girls and boys in that way."

"Um, okay then. But I feel bad about it."

Daniel just gaped. "I never knew that about you."

"I don't," said Janet. "They're resilient. They'll survive."

"Daniel, I was in the military for quite a number of years," said Janet. "It wasn't exactly something I advertised."

"I think I need to sit down," Daniel said, still staring at her. "I just never thought...

You and Elizabeth?"

Janet gestured at the chair behind the desk. "Have a seat, please." She was leaning against the wall already.

"Yes!" exclaimed Janet. "Liz and myself. Both of us. Like girls. And, um, each other."

She could possibly drop dead ~~again~~ on the floor here. It might make her life easier right now.

Daniel sank down heavily into the chair.

"Um. Okay. Wow. Okay."

Janet closed her eyes, leaned her head back against the wall, and sighed.

"Are you all right?" she asked.

"I think I'm in shock," Daniel replied honestly, leaning his head on his hands.

"Oh," said Janet. "Okay, then." She beat her head against the wall a couple of times. "What now?"

Daniel tried not to groan as a picture flashed before his eyes. That was not what he needed to think of right now.

"I... I don't know," he said.

"You're the one who's having problems with this." And with me? She sighed. "Let me guess, you need some time?" she asked resignedly.

"It's not everyday I learn that my girlfriend's been kissing another girl," Daniel said, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose.

He looked up at her. "Janet, I love you. The fact that you also have... something with Elizabeth doesn't change that."

"It just--evolved," said Janet. She slid down against the wall until she was sitting on the ground. Her head was starting to ache.

"But it's changing things," she said. "Isn't it?"
