Library, Saturday
Sholeh had been very happy to get a call that morning to ask if she could cover today's library shift. Not for any reason other than because she liked being helpful and enjoyed the library of course. There couldn't BE any other reason for her to want to get out of her room and go somewhere calming and relaxing.
Most certainly not because of any insinuations on radio today. That would be ridiculous! Presposterous! Utterly foolish! And, of course, wholly unnecessary, because she trusted Evan. Even if he was in some girl's room complimenting her flexibility. And offering to "spot" her. He was nice. Compliments and offers to help were just what he did.
See? She was completely unbothered. Totally. Undeniably. Completely.
*Sholeh, are you sure you're all right?*
"I AM FINE!" Sholeh snapped and then stomped away to load up the return cart. With possibly a little more force than necessary.
See? She was great!

Talk to Sholeh
Re: Talk to Sholeh
... He didn't expect Sholeh to be in today. Today was supposed to be Cassidy's day, and that was absolutely the wrong redhead to be manning the desk. Still and all, he steeled himself to approach her to say hi!
... And then noticed the look on her face.
And then decided that approaching her a little more warily was the way to go.
"Um... good morning, Sholeh?"
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"Evan," she said, very pleasantly. Overly pleasantly, perhaps. She even gave him a smile. Her smiles, it should be noted, always had clenched teeth. That was totally normal. "Enjoying your morning?"
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"It's been mostly okay, I guess. Radio this morning said something weird and completely inaccurate, though, so I've been kind of wondering what was up with that."
Because really, there were only so many reasons Sholeh would look like a homicidal jungle cat at him, too. Right?
Re: Talk to Sholeh
It wasn't like she believed what had been said for any reason.
She was still angrily stacking books, though. For, uhh, no reason.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
He was sure he'd reported on some inaccuracies in the past, himself. Now he was feeling really, really bad about any lives he might have ruined in the process.

Re: Talk to Sholeh
It sounded bad, he had to admit. He couldn't deny that he'd gone up to Kathy's room, or complimented how good she was at gymnastics or even that he'd offered to be her spotter. But they hadn't done anything. That thought hadn't even crossed his mind.
"Sholeh, would you at least talk to me, please? I went to check up on a person I barely even know that I've been worried about. I stayed in the doorway the whole time."
Re: Talk to Sholeh
She just knew she wasn't some gorgeously alluring girl (because Sholeh had no illusions about how pretty the other students were) who could fold herself into a pretzel while talking to a cute boy about being flexible. She was just quiet, bookish, freckled Sholeh, more rabbit that person sometimes.
And even if Evan assured her again that she was exactly the way he wanted her, that didn't mean she still wouldn't feel the keen sting of comparison.

Re: Talk to Sholeh
She didn't know what she meant. Or why there was a big ball of emotion in her throat that now wanted to make her cry.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"What do you mean, Sholeh?"
Because he seriously had no idea what was going on, anymore.

(Although not really.)
"Hello...," Yeul trailed off as she watched Sholeh. "Are you alright, Sholeh?"
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"Just fine," Sholeh groused. "Just dandy and peachy-keen."
She was none of those things, Yeul. Don't be fooled by her excellent acting skills.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
Try again in a couple thousand years, Sholeh.
"Oh, Sholeh..." Yeul said, wandering further into the library and wondering what to continue with. Yeul held out one of the hot chocolates. "I brought you a drink."
Re: Talk to Sholeh
You thought?
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"I thought it would be nice," she said lightly. "It's a rather cool day outside."
Nevermind that they were inside now. Shhh.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"It is nice," Sholeh assured her. "And really thoughtful. Thanks, Yeul. But--oh. Were you coming to visit Cassidy? I know this is usually her shift."
Re: Talk to Sholeh
She hoped it didn't hurt Sholeh's feelings that the hot chocolate had not specifically been for her originally, though there was no one else she'd give it to now.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
...No reason.
"You're so thoughtful," she said, taking her first sip of cocoa. "I don't think I've ever just randomly bought an extra cocoa or something to share with the first person I met."
Re: Talk to Sholeh
Re: Talk to Sholeh
She had a few good friends, her sisters, and books. That was enough to make her happy most days.
Days that didn't include vile insinuations on the radio that she didn't even believe in anyway.
