Lunch: 1/30/06

The happy humming from the kitchen today might be interspersed with occasional worrisome chuckles. Today's menu is written in neat block letters:

- Fettucine Alfredo (with chicken and/or broccoli)

- Steamed Carrots

- Roast Beast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding

- Pad Thai

- Minestrone

Dessert:
- Lemon Sherbet

- Snow Cones

Walter surveys the menu and decides to start a Substitute Chef fan club. He then loads his tray with his usual groaning selection of everything.

Although he passes on dessert. Too chilly.

He then selects today's smoking section and has a seat, sending up the signal that will attract other lung-destroying students. Or just Pip, if he eats today.

Victor came in and grabbed some Fettucine Alfredo with chicken AND broccoli mmm...broccoli!, and decided to skip on dessert. He didn't trust anything frozen at the moment.

Ugh... Walter was in the somking section. Well, for all the times Walter hadn't smoked around him, he could probably endure it for once.

"Come here often?" he asked, sitting across from Walter.

Walter looked up and took a last drag off his cigarette before crushing it out. "With this new guy's cooking, as often as I can."

He took a bite of his roast beast and rolled his eyes in delight. "He is wonderful."

After a few more bites of food, he slowed down and grinned at Victor. "Hey did you hear that we have a substitute principal? We really should do something to welcome him."

Victor rolled his eyes a little. He'd have to show Walter some date movies if he was going to use any more romantic slang around him.

He grinned, though, at Walter's suggestion. "Okay, so we've done the golf cart thing, and you and Pippi have been on junk food duty..." He thought a moment. "Maybe glue on his phone? Nah, it'd probably dry too quick. Flypaper and feathers?"

"I thought we would bring the golf cart back at the end of the semester, but it has been played out for now. Jaye apparently already used glitter to good effect, too."

He took a bite of broccoli and waved his fork around a little. "We should find out a little more about him. We want to tweak his nose, not make him murderous."

"Yeah, true," Victor agreed, taking a bite of chicken or is it? OH NOES!. "We should swing by after lunch and see if he's there. Just innocently wish him hello, like the good students we are."

"Let's give him time to settle in to his office. Maybe we can check with him tomorrow."

Pip notes that the smoking section has already been started and heads over to expand it. "You gentlemen mind me joining you or will you be making out in a few moments?"

Scowling in a mostly put-on manner, Walter flicks a piece of broccoli just past the right side of Pip's head.

"Sit down and tell me if you have any clever ideas for welcoming the substitute principal."

Pip dodges the broccoli easily and takes a seat. He reached into his pocket and fumbles around with a cigarette carton. "Well, hard to say. I don't know him well enough. He seems way more laid back than Smith. I think he'd find anything involving a golf cart funny rather than annoying."

"Maybe we could throw him off by being really uptight and proper..." mused Pippi.

"I suppose we could, but that is more like being on duty for me."

Victor snorted a little and tried to not choke on his soda which was TOTALLY there. "I think i mgiht endup hurting Walter's feelings if I did that.

"And ask Alfred for properness training? Though he might not approve of such an abuse of his teachings."

Victor smirked. "Don't be jealous, Pip. I'm sure one fo these days you'll be having tonsil for lunch."

"I hear he is more a midnight snack sort of person."

Pip laughs. "That I am, Walter. I get hungry at night a lot. Just my metabolism, I suppose. Anyway, considering this place, we probably have all had tonsil for lunch."

Victor couldn't help hismelf. he looked at Walter, raised his eyebrows, then looked back at Pip. "Not yet."

Pippi considers getting her journal login changed to something similar to Becky's.

Pippi doesn't even bother to ask, she plops down in the smoking section with roast beast beef, munching happy on a snow cone.

"I got twinkies for Smith's inbox... But it's not him..." she crinkles her nose.

"Save them for Wednesday," Victor replied. "We could use them."

"Walter and I are gonna cook some stuff up on the third floor. Sorta an international thing. I was thinking about having a "Bobbing for Twinkies" game or something.
