Lunch: 1/30/06

The happy humming from the kitchen today might be interspersed with occasional worrisome chuckles. Today's menu is written in neat block letters:

- Fettucine Alfredo (with chicken and/or broccoli)

- Steamed Carrots

- Roast Beast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding

- Pad Thai

- Minestrone

Dessert:
- Lemon Sherbet

- Snow Cones

"You mean the gaping hole in my shoulder? A little stiff, but okay. You? You seemed alright this morning when Alfred Junior bopped me in the head."

"Gaping hole? I saw them stitch you up." He had definitely seen worse.

Walter made a dismissive noise to Victor's question. "I'm alright. The brace is more annoying than anything else." Reminded, he patted his pocket where his left hand's rings were.

Victor's eyes widened a little when he realized that Walter's hand was bare. "Oh, wow, sorry Walter. I didn't notice your rings. That must suck."

He felt a little guilty right then. Walter didn't take his rings off for anything, not even on Friday nights. How could he have missed their disappearance?

"I still have my right hand. The doctor didn't say I had to take them off, but I forget and use them."

Like yesterday making the ice castle. He wasn't going to tell Victor just how much that made his wrist hurt later.

"Well, I hope you get better soon. Maybe when we're both healed we could spend some time in the gym?"

He chewed his now broccoli-less pasta and wondered if it was too soon to ask for fighting advice.

"I will be going there tonight, I think. You know you're always welcome to join me. I guess I will not be much use at self-defense Wednesday night."

"I probably won't be, either. We can work on our legs or something. I forgor...did the doctor say I could take a shower, or am I not supposed to get my stab wet?"

"You can shower. No swimming until it's better healed though."

Walter took another bite of pasta and waited until he was done chewing. "When you're less sore, we can work on kicks, too."

"I don't know..." Victor said, a wicked gleam in his eye. "I might need some help washing it. I don't want to rip it open again."
