Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

Jessica hears the announcement and with nothing much to do after classes decides to help. Not really sure of how to help, the first thing that comes to her mind is tea. Tea; of course tea. Jessica runs to her room, grabs her basket of tea supplies, and runs down to the gym.

There she sets a tray of cups and soucers, spoons, doilies, napkins, sugar, cream and sliced lemon out on an empty table. Jessica takes a seat behind the table and goes about making and setting out warm cups of tea on the table.

Taking a break from the bed sign in table Maia comes over to grab a cup of tea. "Hi, this is great thanks." She gives the girl a bright smile.

"Oh, you are most welcome dear" says Jessica with a smile. "Are you from town? How bad is it down there?" asks Jessica with a most concerned look on her face.

"Oh no I'm a student, its pretty bad though. No power down there at all." Maia said stirring her tea and frowning looking worried. "I'm manning the 'extra bed in your dorm room' sign up table." She sipped her tea "I'm sorry I'm rude, My names Maia."

"My dear, you are a treasure." Edmund takes a cup of tea and rather than offend the lovely young lady's sensibilities, gives one to Baldrick and shoos him toward a corner of the gym far from other people.

"Ohhh, thank you" says Jessica with a smile and a nod. "You see, there probably are much more useful things I could be doing of course, but its something, so here I am." Jessica gives a litte laugh and then puts one hand over her chest. "Jessica. And who are you, kind sir?"

It's not the tea she's used to, but Inara didn't think to bring a box of tea leaves.

"A very good idea, thank you," she tells the young woman behind the table as she accepts a cup of hot tea. She might even try the milk and sugar option.

"Thank you," says Jessica with a most modest smile. "If there is anything missing here that you might need I may have left it up in my room by mistake. You see I was in quite a rush to get down here" says Jessica appologetically.

"No," Inara says, "it's all fine." She turns to look out at the gym, then turns back. "If you need to take a break, or go somewhere, let me know, and I'll be happy to mind the table until you're back."

Susan stops by the tea table. "Tea!" she says brightly. "Genius, sheer brilliance." She takes a cup and gulps it straight down, gasping at the heat. "Wonderful."

"Oh! Why thank you!" says Jessica with a wide smile. "Please, enjoy. Just get in from the cold??"

Susan shakes her head as she pours another cup. "No, I've been upstairs in my room." She grimaces. "I probably should leave the tea for people who have been out in the cold, shouldn't I?"

Ivanova headed for her fellow morale officer with a smile, a basket of chocolate, and an origami crane fluttering along close behind her. "I come bringing peace, love, and sweets," she said with a grin.

"Yes," Ivanova responds, equally serious. "I am the Angel of Cocoa and Sugar." She holds out the basket of chocolates and other things. "Candy? To keep your spirits up."

Kiki comes over from her distribution table.

"Hey, Jessica! Lana and I were just talking - we're thinking having a girls' slumber party up in the 4th floor common room tonight! Since obviously, Caritas is out...bring along anyone you like!" Kiki grins.

"That sounds truly wonderful Kiki, thank you. I was so upset when I realized our plans were ruined...but a slumber party works just as well," answers Jessica with a smile. "Tea? You know you just can't resist."

"TONKS!" Ivanova can spot her favourite pink spikes at fifty yards. She hurries over, the origami crane fluttering behind her rather tiredly, and stops herself just before flinging herself on the other girl.
