Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

"Thank you." Tonks said grandly, "He and I think you're very cute-looking as well." She brings the tip of her wand to the fluttering paper bird and casts a quick spell with a flash of purple light.

The little crane leaps out of her hand and soars around them, turning joyful loop-de-loops, and making Ivanova beam and clap her hands in joy. "Thank you, Tonks!" She threw her arms around the other girl again.

Tonks hugged Ivanova, resting her chin on the girl's shoulder. "Anytime."

Know what? Ivanova really didn't feel like letting go of Tonks. Especially after worrying like mad while the storm had been building. So maybe she held on a bit longer than normal for a friendly hug.

Tonks's fingers might've tightened in the fabric of the back of Ivanova's shirt after a moment. So maybe it was just a little tighter than a friendly hug.

Ivanova's mouth went very dry as she drew back very slightly to look into Tonks' face. She licked her lips. "Um, Tonks?" she murmured.

Tonks pulled away slightly, taking a clumsy step backwards. "Yeah?"

Ivanova took a very deep breath and jumped in. She leaned forward and kissed Tonks. Just lightly, just lips. Oh god, please let her not have ruined a great friendship.

Before she even knew what she was doing, Tonks found herself stepping forward and, after a moment of stunned quiet, she ungracefully encircled the girl, and the lid she had been trying to keep on her emotions shattered into a million forlorn fragments. After what might've been an eternity or just several heartbeats, Tonks leaned up a bit and pressed her lips softly, inexpertly, to the side of Ivanova's mouth.

Ivanova's lips curled into a smile against Tonks' cheek, every worry she had had for days flying away. The jittery buzz that had plagued her since the weird weather had started was gone as Tonks' feelings flooded into her mind. She would have been startled at the intensity of the feelings if she had been capable of coherent thought - of any thought other than intense SQUEE. She wrapped her arms around the other girl, drawing her closer. She kissed Tonks again, more firmly this time, their noses bumping a bit.

Tonks smiled against Ivanova's mouth, her lips tingling as if she'd never been kissed. She drew away, then initiated the kiss once more, this time more skillfully.

Ivanova melted into the kiss. This had been far, far too long in coming. No pun intended. Feeling a little daring, she flicked her tongue over Tonks' closed lips as she slid one hand slowly up her back.

Tonks, exhilerated by the contact, obligingly parted her lips, deepening the searing kiss.

She murmured a little bit, not quite a moan, as her tongue slipped in, feeling herself falling into Tonks, wanting to devour her - until something papery brushed against her cheek, her eyes - which she hadn't realised were closed - flicked open, and she realised that they were in the middle of a crowded gymnasium full of storm refugees.

Slowly, reluctantly, she pulled away, dropping a last light kiss on Tonks's lips.
