Study Hall -- Wednesday, November 2nd

Sarah's at the front desk, staring blankly as she leans over a notebook and clutches her head. Her mind seems to be elsewhere, and it's probably a bad idea to talk to her.

The puppies are back, sleeping in the basket in front of the desk and available for people to cuddle for comfort.

Draco is excited that the puppies are back. He picks one up and takes it to his usual seat. He lets it sleep in his lap. He should really convince his mother to let him get a puppy.

He props a book up on the desk and scratches behind the puppy's ear while he reads.

'Aww that is cute, Draco and a puppy. I wonder how long it will take him to corrupt the poor thing' Harry mutters under his breath, as he spots Draco from across the room.

Phoebe is happy to see that the puppies are back.

She grabs the one she usually plays with and takes it to the back of the room.

Beka gave Phoebe a considering look, but decided not to talk to her about Kitty right now. There would be time. She did offer a 'try not to worry' half-smile.

Belthazor came into study hall and took a seat, watching the door each time someone came in.

Beka took a seat close enough to toss Bel an occasional note but far enough that she could watch other parts of the room for other reasons. Also, sitting with Bel and Phoebe too much might start rumors.

Paige walks in mid afternoon, after working at the museum, she picks up the puppy she usually pets and sitting at a table keeps an eye out for, well anyone really.

Sonia lifts one of the puppies from the basket, nuzzling the soft fur around its neck. When she sees Paige, she grins and waves, then walks over to talk to the girl.

Piper wanders into study hall and watches the puppies. They are a welcome distraction.

Beka smiles warmly at Piper from across the room. Shaping her hand into a gun, she pretends to squeeze the trigger and winks, trying to cheer Piper a bit. No way she's letting anyone hurt her friends, non-human or otherwise.

Anders comes into study hall and smiles when he sees the puppies. Unfortunately, images of condom-balloon-animal puppies immediately come to mind, ruining the mood, and he sits down hard in the nearest chair, his eyes glazed.

Beka gave Cally a soft half-smile. Cally might, though others wouldn't, notice her eyes look a little more haunted since Kitty's death, but otherwise she was fine, normal, even in pretty good spirits.

Maia comes in, she eyes the puppies and picks up the smallest one in the group. She hugs it and walks to a seat opening up to where she left off last time in her paper for Biology.

Sauntering into Study Hall, Duce was arrested by the sight of a kid covered in... glitter? and.. plastic bits? Her lips twitched as she tried to control a laugh. The kid's expression told her he, at least, didn't find the situation amusing.

"What the hell happened to you?" She managed to ask it without bursting into laughter. Some days, it's all about the small accomplishments.

Parker snags a puppy when no one's looking at her, and can be seen petting one in the corner, her expression blank.

She still looks very, very tired.

Rory spots Parker, and goes to sit by her and her puppy.

"Wow. You look as empty as I feel," she says, sliding into a seat.

For the first time in maybe forever, Beka was worried about Parker. It almost made her wish the two still spoke. She left Parker to her emotions, because it was the best thing she could do for her.

Although it did occur to her that getting into a brawl might help Parker feel more like herself. It always worked for her.

Everyone's sorrow and tension getting to her, Beka paused outside Study Hall to lean against the wall, take a few deep breaths and steady out. When she entered the classroom, she wore a genuine, if wistful smile, and her eyes weren't quite as hard as usual. She quickly found her friends, but made sure they didn't close themselves off to newcomers.

Jonathan walks into Study Hall feeling better than he did yesterday. He also decides (as part of his new plan of de-pussification) to sit by himself today, rather than cling to some one in JA's apron strings.

After her conversation with the glitter-covered kid (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/308085.html?thread=15080053#t15080053), Duce spots one of the kids from the JA meeting the night before. Wandering over, she introduces herself, "Heya. We're Duce. You're Jonathan, right? Are you really going to model for the fashion show?" She sounds genuinely curious.
