Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

With all the rain the island had seen during the week, everyone had been hoping for a sudden turn to nice weather for the welcome picnic. But as the crew from the school started to set up for the picnic, the sky got darker and darker, and by the time everything was ready, it had started to steadily rain. As tempting as it was to move everything inside, there just wasn't anywhere in the school for so many people to gather at once, and since it was still comfortably warm outside, extra measures were taken to ensure that the picnic could go on as scheduled. Tents were set up to cover the information tables, the food, and most of the tables and chairs, and umbrellas had been gathered, ready for use by anyone who wanted more personal protection against the weather. It didn't look like the rain would be letting up any time soon.

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Bo would laugh herself sick if anyone thought she could be a teacher, but STAFF (as her I.D. badge proclaimed oh so subtly), she could just about handle.

Nor was she going to turn down the free food or the chance to meet the kids and the rest of the STAFF. (Who... didn't seem to be wearing less than subtle I.D. badges. Right. Fashion note: don't be a dork, Bo. I.D. badge could go live in her pocket. It was kind of hard to miss the t-shirt anyway.)

Kenzi was wandering now, having gone back for more food, eaten some of it, then decided she needed to get some work in during a shindig like this.

From the back, all she saw of this woman was that it looked like she had a cellphone and maybe keys in her back pocket. Easy attempt, right?

Those pants were really too tight, but she was good! Not that difficult!

Right, go for the explanation she'd been planning to give if the kid woke up before she'd got out of Dodge, back in that Canadian town that wasn't named Dodge. Good plan?

Ahem indeed. Dick's raised eyebrow probably gave away where his mind went at the flexible comment, but he moved along quickly. "Do you also expect a tip when you throw someone out of the party? Or will applause from spectators be fine?"

Bo shrugged. "Applause is fine. I don't get a tip when I throw somebody out of the bar either. Mostly I just get Tiny glaring at me for doing his job." Unless he was busy texting someone.

"I think he just decided to cut back and stick to teaching." Bo held out her hand. "I'm Bo, and I guess you're not new, then? Or at least I'm newer than you."

Then I broke up some trouble that weekend when everybody was somebody else--" She paused. "The, uh, most recent weekend when everybody was somebody else-- and suddenly I'm on the security team."
