With all the rain the island had seen during the week, everyone had been hoping for a sudden turn to nice weather for the welcome picnic. But as the crew from the school started to set up for the picnic, the sky got darker and darker, and by the time everything was ready, it had started to steadily rain. As tempting as it was to move everything inside, there just wasn't anywhere in the school for so many people to gather at once, and since it was still comfortably warm outside, extra measures were taken to ensure that the picnic could go on as scheduled. Tents were set up to cover the information tables, the food, and most of the tables and chairs, and umbrellas had been gathered, ready for use by anyone who wanted more personal protection against the weather. It didn't look like the rain would be letting up any time soon.

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"So bartender, school security, and now a superhero. You're just showing off now," said the trust fund kid from the circus who has had two secret identities and frankly had no room to talk even as a joke.

Bo snorted. "Superhero, right. Exactly. My cape and tights are in the laundry, though, sorry."

"Especially since we already have someone in tights on staff. You'd hate to accidentally match him," Dick noted.

"...We do?" Somebody hadn't met the Vice Principal yet. "I mean, not that I'm judging. I don't care if the teachers cross-dress or ride monkey-ponies to work." Again, thank you, Claudia.

"Oh, no, this guy you can judge. He's nuts. And he's been the Vice Principal for years," Dick said.

"...Monkey-ponies?"

"Apparently they're centaurs with evil monkey heads?" Bo shrugged. SHRUGGED. Like that wasn't the most ridiculous statement ever. "Before my time but one of the students was telling me about them."

"I love Fandom. Just when you think you've heard the craziest thing you ever will, somebody tells you about monkey-head centaurs," Dick said. "You don't get that anywhere else."

Well, in Bristol she'd got werewolves followed by ghosts, but yeah, That still didn't quite beat monkey-head centaurs. "I'm kind of getting to feel that way too. Not that I'm asking for an invasion of weird things trying to kill us. Weird and harmless is good."
