fandomhigh | Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

With all the rain the island had seen during the week, everyone had been hoping for a sudden turn to nice weather for the welcome picnic. But as the crew from the school started to set up for the picnic, the sky got darker and darker, and by the time everything was ready, it had started to steadily rain. As tempting as it was to move everything inside, there just wasn't anywhere in the school for so many people to gather at once, and since it was still comfortably warm outside, extra measures were taken to ensure that the picnic could go on as scheduled. Tents were set up to cover the information tables, the food, and most of the tables and chairs, and umbrellas had been gathered, ready for use by anyone who wanted more personal protection against the weather. It didn't look like the rain would be letting up any time soon.

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"That doesn't entirely narrow it down," Bo answered with a grin. I think it's been to like... four or five places just since I got here in May."

"Really?" How was this the thing that threw him? He lived on a freakin' alien planet after leaving here the last time. "I was starting to think my life couldn't get weirder, but comin' back here proved otherwise."

UNTIL HE STARTS TO PUKE LAVA BLOOD BECAUSE HIS 'PARTNER' GETS KILLED.

Bo laughed. "Wow, do I know that feeling. All except the back part. I don't know, though. I think I like that there's actually weirder things here." Than me, being the part she didn't fill in.

"It's always a different kind of weird," Guy replied, crossing his arms over his chest as he watched the pink, talking pony.

"Yeah, it--" Traaaack the line of sight, Bo. Track it like Jeremy Wade tracks a river monster. "Holy shit, pony!"

Inner ten year old, meet ~~Canadian cable~~ adult vocabulary.

It was like watching a grown woman turn into a small, overly girly child all in the blink of an eye. "Yeah, and it's pink."

"...Well, no pony's perfect." Bo was more of a red satin kind of girl. Still... "There is a pony at the buffet table. With curly hair and a bow."

Worst pony ever.

"And a tattoo on it's butt," Guy added. "And I'm pretty sure it was talking before."

It could be an alien. That would make way more sense to him.

"..." Bo's brain was running out of reactions to weird shit, at this point. She had to settle for curiosity. "What was it talking about?"

What did talking pink ponies talk about? Rainbows and clouds?

"You know, I didn't pay attention," Guy admitted. Possibly out of defense of his sanity. "Maybe apples?"

Ponies liked apples, right?

Bo glanced at the plate she'd been munching from, which contained the remains of nachos, grapes, and some kind of fruity jello-y salad-y thing. "Maybe I'll talk to the pony later when I'm absolutely sure somebody didn't spike the buffet."

Guy eyed the buffet for a moment. "Shouldn't it be elephants, not ponies?"

"I don't think I'm drunk, but if I was, I wouldn't be arguing with my hallucinations."

Oh, she so would. She'd just deliberately never been drunk enough to find out.

"I'd rather have cute ones than the kind that could stomp on my head."

"That's called a hangover, not a hallucination."

"So I've heard. I've never actually had one of those." Because the few times she'd gotten drunk enough for it, things hadn't ended well for whoever had walked her home, but Bo had woken up fresh as a daisy. There was a reason she mostly stuck to Coke.

"...really?" That wasn't fair at all.

"What can I say; I've got an awesome constitution." That was one way of putting it.

"Remind me to sign up for one of those when classes start up," Guy replied. Because he was already going to be a horrible Star Sapphire. Why not go all out?

Bo snickered. "Is teaching here that bad?"

"My teaching assistant is a pain in the ass," Guy confirmed. Because, you know, near psychotic rage at Reach tech was always fun.

"Don't you... get to pick those yourself?" She see where it would kind of blow if she was wrong.

"Yeah, but I have a responsibility with this kid." For Ted and all. Not that he had a soft spot for Reyes or anything. "A legacy kind of thing."

"Ahhhhh." Bo cast an eye over the crowd to see if she could spot a certain head of goth-black hair bopping around and hopefully not getting her hands into anybody else's pants unless invited. "Yeah, I think I might just have one of those myself."

"Keep 'em on their toes and they usually have less of a chance to do something dumb." Yes, Jaime. You have a babysitter now.

Deal with it.

Bo snickered. "I don't think I could keep up with this kid even if I put a Lo-Jack on her and stuck a homing chip in her ear."
