Phys Ed: Week 3, Period 1 (Fri. 1/23)

When students entered the Danger Shop this week, rather than a gym, or even a freezing powerless scape, they would find themselves transported to a lush green hillside. With a whole bunch of sheep. And a whole lot of heat.

As usual, Ronon started talking when he felt like it. "Today you'll work with a partner to shear some sheep. My teammate said this is a traditional gym class for the Scottish people. Call it cultural education or whatever." Ronon gestured to an area with all the necessary equipment for the process. "Grab some tools and some instructions and get started."

Ronon stopped himself from turning away. "Don't forget to dress out. Locker rooms are right behind you." Ronon himself was again wearing his standard leather ensemble with his massive hair pulled back in a band. And the whistle, just because.

Another Friday, another class, another day of sliding into the uniform. At least the heat was back and he didn't have to do this while freezing his ass off.

Oh, warmth. Sweet warmth. Not that she was completely ready to change out of her warm clothes and into her uniform, but it wasn't like the big scary teacher had left her an option.

Blah blah blah, uniform, whatever. Claire had a new boyfriend and it was finally warm again. She couldn't bitch too much this week.

Priestly finally did it. He ripped the sleeves out of his uniform shirt.

And proceeded to use one of them as a headband.

Oh yeah, he was a rebel.

Éowyn was getting slightly more used to having to wear the uniform. She could endure anything for one class period a week, after all.

Freaking weather. Ben couldn't believe he was actually warm enough to want to take off all of his layers and wear ugly shorts.

But there he was, wearing ugly shorts.

Get a partner and practice your brogue while you try it yourself. They're fake sheep, but Ronon will consider killing them grounds for detention.

Worf had no brogue. He did not need a brogue. He was skeptical regarding the class topic but showed no sign. The teacher had given him an assignment and he would do it. And also make the others participate as well.

Well.

As far as learning new things went, shearing sheep was pretty much up there. Still, it was an exercise that could prove to be useful.

If Ender ever found himself on a planet full of sheep. He would have sighed in annoyance if he'd been the type.

Claire was not about to risk getting kicked or bitten or whatever the hell sheep did all by herself, and even though she didn't exactly know Ender, she'd seen him in class enough to know he probably would be one of the less annoying people to do this with.

Shearing animals was always considered men's work at home, and while Éowyn was eager to prove that she could do the same tasks as a man, she'd been hoping to prove it in a way that did not smell so foul. "But what if they get cold?" she said, the barest hint of a protest.

Momoko blinked for a moment. They were going to sheer sheep for gym. In winter? That seemed odd. For a gym class and in general for... sheeping? On the other hand, it was just a hologram sheep and not a real one, and the landscape they were in was actually pretty warm, so the poor things wouldn't really be cold afterwards, but still it sounded wrong.

And for the record? Up close, sheep just aren't cute. "Maybe it's just this world's version of sheep," she mumbled as she tried to decipher the instructions and figure out what tools were used when.

He was hungry. However now was the time for class. Not eating.

He watched his fellow students carefully in case they disagreed with the assignment.
