Phys Ed: Week 3, Period 1 (Fri. 1/23)

When students entered the Danger Shop this week, rather than a gym, or even a freezing powerless scape, they would find themselves transported to a lush green hillside. With a whole bunch of sheep. And a whole lot of heat.

As usual, Ronon started talking when he felt like it. "Today you'll work with a partner to shear some sheep. My teammate said this is a traditional gym class for the Scottish people. Call it cultural education or whatever." Ronon gestured to an area with all the necessary equipment for the process. "Grab some tools and some instructions and get started."

Ronon stopped himself from turning away. "Don't forget to dress out. Locker rooms are right behind you." Ronon himself was again wearing his standard leather ensemble with his massive hair pulled back in a band. And the whistle, just because.

"You a hunter?" Gavin asked, reaching for the shears. "Or just hungry?"

"What man, prince or no, does not enjoy a good hunt?" he asked, quirking a very nice brow.

He dropped his clothes. The, uh, ones he was holding. "Shall I rope a sheep?"

With a hearty laugh, Prince Edward set off after a sheep and in less time than one would imagine possible, a fat sheep was hog tied and on its side before Gavin. Prince Edward looked smug as he rested his booted foot on its back. His booted foot paired with gym attire was definitely a sight.

Let it never be said that he did not have certain skills.

Gavin hadn't actually thought he'd be able to do that.

"You're...impressive. Wow."

"I am Prince Edward of Andalasia!" he said to that, boisterously.

"Gavin Darklighter....of Tatooine," he said, checking to make sure the shears were sharp. "Good to meet you, Prince."

"Ah, you too, my friend!" he replied and stepped off the sheep, dropping to his knees. "Shall I..." he rubbed his chin. "What are those things in your hand?"

"This is what we use to shear the sheep," he explained. "We can't very well pull the wool off with our bare hands."

"Shall I use my sword?" he asked, because he was certain he could find it somewhere if he searched long and hard enough.

"No!" Gavin said, shaking his head. "No, that's not the thing to shear a sheep with. We might hurt him."

He looked mildly disappointed. He missed his sword.

"Very well! Tell me how to help you with this shearing, then I shall carry the sheep to the kitchens myself!"

"Well, according to the instructions, we use the blade shears and we just...shear off the wool," Gavin said. "That sounds almost too easy."

"Ah, excellent. I suppose the women shall like to spin it," Prince Edward said. "I could use some new socks." He rubbed his hand over the belly of the sheep. "Nice and thick. Excellllent!"

"I'd be careful about asking any of the girls here to make you some new socks," Gavin advised. "They might smack you."

Prince Edward looked appalled. "Why do you say such things?"

"Because it's true," Gavin said. "They will smack you."

"Smack me," he repeated dumbly. "As in..." he smacked his own hand across his palm.

Suddenly Prince Edward broke out in laughter. "Ah-ha! You jest, my friend! But I am quickly learning that this place holds many jesters! People are amusing, yes indeed!"

Gavin stared and then very carefully started shearing the sheep. "I'm not a jester and I think you're just going to have to learn the hard way."

"Truly?" Prince Edward held a foot that was already tied up. "This is amazing." A woman smack him? Unheard of!

"Say the wrong thing to the wrong person and I guarantee you'll get smacked," Gavin said.
