Phys Ed: Week 3, Period 1 (Fri. 1/23)

When students entered the Danger Shop this week, rather than a gym, or even a freezing powerless scape, they would find themselves transported to a lush green hillside. With a whole bunch of sheep. And a whole lot of heat.

As usual, Ronon started talking when he felt like it. "Today you'll work with a partner to shear some sheep. My teammate said this is a traditional gym class for the Scottish people. Call it cultural education or whatever." Ronon gestured to an area with all the necessary equipment for the process. "Grab some tools and some instructions and get started."

Ronon stopped himself from turning away. "Don't forget to dress out. Locker rooms are right behind you." Ronon himself was again wearing his standard leather ensemble with his massive hair pulled back in a band. And the whistle, just because.

"I do not know what a nerf is. Nor are we herding them," Worf said gruffly. "We are to shear a sheep. Have you reviewed the appropriate documentation."

That last sentence was less of a question as a demand.

Ben bit the inside of his cheek not to laugh. "I have," he assured Worf solemnly. "This should be...good exercise."

"Excellent. Then I shall hold the sheep firmly yet gently down while you remove it's valuable wool," Worf stated, sounding like he was reading from a manual. "Get the shears prepared."

Ben had a bad feeling about this. "Okay," he said slowly, picking up the shears. "Ready! Go get a sheep!"

"Excellent," Worf said and picked up one of the sheep, roughly dragging it before Ben. "I am now firmly but gently holding the sheep. You may begin shearing."

"Here goes nothing," Ben muttered to himself before trying to shear a sheep. His first strip of wool left more than an inch still on the animal. "Guess I have to get closer to his skin. Her skin?"

"Yes. You are doing this improperly," Worf declared. "I suggest you read the instructions for the shearing equipment more closely and try again."

"It's nothing the matter with the shears," Ben said. "I just didn't want to make the poor thing bleed."

"Your compassion is duly noted," Worf grunted. "Now try again."

"Hold it still," Ben said, making shushing noises as he got closer to the sheep with the shears. The second time worked a little better, though he got pretty close to getting kicked.
