Sex Ed, Wednesday, Period 2, Class #1

When the students entered, they found that on each of the desks was an 8.5" x 11" piece of white cardboard, a printed list and colored markers. A young, pale man with tousled bronze hair and a beige shirt stood at the front of the room.

"Welcome," Edward said, once the students were seated. "This is Sex Ed. I am Edward Cullen. I know that I look young, but I am older than I appear and I have a graduate degree in medicine." Two, actually, but he knew that would sound unlikely for a human as young as he supposedly was. "You may call me Mr. Cullen, though. Dr. Cullen is my father." He smiled, though he did not expose his teeth. "I would like to have two teaching assistants for this class. If you are interested, talk to me after class or in my office.

"This semester, we will deal with a number of delicate subjects. Know right now that the number one requirement for this class is respect. You must show respect for me as well as respect for your fellow students. There will be no crude remarks, vulgar language or snide comments. We must establish an environment of trust.

"I know how much pressure there can be to relax your values in exchange for a bit of fun. I want you to be there for your fellow classmates and provide a support system. There is plenty of fun to be had without giving in to base urges. One day, each of you will find your soulmate. Do you want to give the most important person in your life a gift that is tarnished and worn or do you want to give them a gift that is fresh and new?

"If you see any of the people here," he gestured around the room with one pale hand, "in a situation which may lead to regret, please step in. We are stronger together than we are separately."

"To begin, we will create a totem 'pole' that represents us together. I would like each of you to choose your totem animal from the list on your desk. Draw that animal on the cardboard in front of you. Then post your totem over there." He gestured to a board on one side of the classroom. "When everyone is finished, you will introduce yourselves and explain why you chose the animal you did."

[OCD coming up.]

[Reminder: Edward is telepathic.]

Amber was quiet, going over the list of animals, trying to decide what she was going to choose.

Marco went through the list, muttering to himself things that sounded a lot like "No gorilla's?" and "I don't want to be a butterfly!".

Once Angela had skimmed over the list, she had an idea of her animal. It wasn't too hard to decide.

The drawing was the fun part, anyway.

Every once in a while she glanced up from her work to look at the teacher. It really was so sad when someone that hot was calling for abstinence.

Kaylee picked her animal right away, based on the description.

Though she also almost picked raccoon, for obvious reasons.

Chuck had no idea how he ended up in this class but he figured that he'd stick with it, just for the potential laughs he might get from the teacher and the students. It took all of his effort not to choose the beaver for his totem pole. He'd save tasteless jokes like that for later.

Seeing Chuck, Eric considered, briefly, ignoring him; instead, he looked over, smiled a bit, and waved, mouthing, "Hi."

Chuck had to do a bit of a double-take when he saw Eric. Either he needed to check up on Gossip Girl more often or she was getting a little rusty in her gossiping because he hadn't heard anything about Eric leaving New York.

"Well if it isn't the littlest van der Woodsen," Chuck said, not caring if he was talking during class. "I didn't know you went to school here now."

Claire took a long moment to get started on her drawing; she'd never seen a teacher quite that hot, and she slipped into a daydream.

"Today, in sex ed, practical demonstrations," Mr. Cullen said. "With, ah, Claire, you be my partner?"

She rose from her seat, too dumbfounded to say anything, and was swept into a passionate kiss.

Then she heard a voice from the side. "Get her to suck your toes," Gabe supplied. He was munching popcorn and looking quite amused. "The little freak likes that."

With a start, she snapped herself out of it, and started sketching a raven in heavy pencil marks. Freaking Gabe, ruining even her imaginary sex life...

[OOC: Of course Edward can pick up on Claire's little fantasy sequence.]

Joan waved over at Claire, grateful for a familiar face in the most embarrassing class ever.

Gwen looked over the list, somewhat disappointed that there wasn't a pterodactyl on the list.

Joan couldn't believe that not only was she going to have to offer to TA for a class about sex, it was with a SUPER hot teacher.

God clearly hated her.

She looked over the list of animals and tried to pick one that suited her.

Drawing! He loved to draw. Kevin decided this class beat the pants off that physics one.

He wondered what exactly this gift was they would be making in class; Toby would love it, though. He loved anything Kevin gave him.

Toby smiled and waved at Kevin, wondering what he was drawing.

Meg still wasn't sure how she wound up in this class but she was proud of herself for not headdesking as the teacher spoke.

Abstinence only? So stupid. And it didn't work.

Grumbling to herself, and not wanting to make a scene, she eventually turned to the list of animals, wondering if she could say she was a female praying mantis. Who bit the heads off her mates when she was done with them.

Tosh was thinking about two things as she sat there. 1) How had she ended up in this class? 2) Which animal was she going to choose?

Eric wasn't quite sure how he'd ended up in this class -- he definitely hadn't signed up for it. He was also very, very carefully not ogling staring at ogling the professor. Really.

...totem animals. Well, this was certainly interesting. For a brief moment, Cal considered scanning the list for a hyena. Finding that it wasn't even on there, though, he went with something else and started sketching, determined to make today's drawing a little better than yesterday's stick figures.

He felt like he might have been slightly cheating, though. The most fitting one, he realized, would probably be the butterfly, but there was no way he was going to go with that.

Triela spent most of the first half of class scowling at her desk.

Stupid Hilshire. What did he think she needed this class for anyway? When she got back she was going to break his arm or something...

Eventually she managed to come out of her reverie and reached into her bag for a calligraphy pen which she proceeded to use to draw her animal... sort of.

Warren stared at the paper and markers in front of him. It wasn't that he was a failure as an artist that caused his hesitation, or even that he didn't appreciate the easy introductory assignment.

But he was seriously curious as to what totem animals had to do with a sex-ed course.

Jenny thought a lot of swear words as she stared at the list of totem animals and A) tried to pick one that wasn't completely lame and B) wondered what the bloody f*ck this had to do with sex ed.

Drawing his swan swimming in clear, blue water, Toby daydreamed about home. He wondered what Van was doing right then.
