Chuck had a drink in his hand and was trying his best to look anti-social to the people that didn't meet his standards and to look approachable to the people who did (i.e. girls).

Basically it was the difference between a bitchface and a knowing smirk.

Dean glanced over and snorted.

Chuck rolled his eyes as he turned his head to follow the noise. "What?"

"Dude, you really need to work on your bitchface."

My icon keyword says differently

"My what-face?" he asked. Chuck didn't use such terms.

Dean gestured at the boy's face. "That. The expression. Unless you're just constipated in which case... it's dead on."

"Wow, looks like I moved to the world's epicenter of class and wit," Chuck said flatly. "Lucky me."

Dean rolled his eyes. "Dude, just loosen up some. Stop looking like you smell something bad or that the whole island is made up of something you'd rather wipe off your shoe."

Romeo noticed Chuck. Or, rather, he noticed a new boy wearing decent clothes seemed to be eying the girls, and he thought it would be worth talking to him before his eyes landed on a certain girl.

Not that he entirely minded Yurika flirting. Just. Well.

"Hi," he said. "So you're one of the new ones?"

"Yes," Chuck said, making a face at that term. He hated being the new kid. "Are you one of the old ones?"

Romeo hadn't been too fond of being new himself, come to that. "Not that old," he protested. "I've been here since January."

He considered. "Middle-aged, perhaps?"

Chuck smirked at that. Chuck didn't know if all rich kids were born with a sixth sense to detect their own or if he just had a knack for it but, he could just tell that Romeo had grown up with money.

"Still, you're older than I am," he said. He stuck out a hand. "I'm Chuck Bass."

It was the shoes, more than anything, or at least that would have been Romeo's theory. Shoes and accents and ... he couldn't have entirely explained it either, but he could tell, too, even after several months away from that kind of money.

"Romeo Montague," he returned, shaking the proffered hand. "Where are you from, Chuck?"

[identity profile] rocksthescarf.livejournal.com 2008-07-06 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
"New York City. The Upper East Side," he said. He would hate for Romeo to think he was from Brooklyn or something. "You?"
withoutverona: (B+ W grin)

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2008 - 2.0)

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-07-06 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Verona Beach," Romeo answered approvingly. He knew enough about New York to know the Upper East Side was the right bit to be from. "It's south of Los Angeles." Or at least it was in his own world; he tried not to think about the fact it didn't exist in others.

Francine... really didn't know the difference between a bitchface and a knowing smirk, anyway. Not on a boy. All she knew was ooh, pretty, and definitely new.

She should probably take a break from staring shyly to wipe the pizza sauce off the corner of her mouth, huh.

If Chuck had a type, Francine probably wouldn't fit it. Lucky (or unlucky, rather) for her, Chuck was pretty much equal opportunity when it came to flirting. So when he caught Francine looking at him, he responded with a wink and a smile.

Unlucky for Francine (and possibly for Chuck), Francine did have a type. And he was it. Though a slightly better-groomed version of same. The sort who didn't tend to do things like... look back at her. Let alone wink.

"Oh, um. Hi?" She could return the smile part, at least, though hers was less flirty, more ohmigod he looked at me, what do I do now?

"Hi," Chuck said, trying to hide his amusement at her nervousness the best he could. He pointed to the side of his mouth. "You've got a little something."

Francine looked down. She didn't really have a little anythi-- OH. Face, meet palm. And then napkin. "I knew that. Really."

[identity profile] rocksthescarf.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)

"I'm Francine. Peters. You're--" Seriously he must've heard new like, a thousand times already, right? Francine fumbled for a way to end that sentence that didn't make her look like an idiot.

"Cute," probably wasn't it.

Oh God, where was a convenient fjord or crevasse or something?
