Francine... really didn't know the difference between a bitchface and a knowing smirk, anyway. Not on a boy. All she knew was ooh, pretty, and definitely new.

She should probably take a break from staring shyly to wipe the pizza sauce off the corner of her mouth, huh.

If Chuck had a type, Francine probably wouldn't fit it. Lucky (or unlucky, rather) for her, Chuck was pretty much equal opportunity when it came to flirting. So when he caught Francine looking at him, he responded with a wink and a smile.

Unlucky for Francine (and possibly for Chuck), Francine did have a type. And he was it. Though a slightly better-groomed version of same. The sort who didn't tend to do things like... look back at her. Let alone wink.

"Oh, um. Hi?" She could return the smile part, at least, though hers was less flirty, more ohmigod he looked at me, what do I do now?

"Hi," Chuck said, trying to hide his amusement at her nervousness the best he could. He pointed to the side of his mouth. "You've got a little something."

Francine looked down. She didn't really have a little anythi-- OH. Face, meet palm. And then napkin. "I knew that. Really."

"Of course you did," he said, smirking again. "I'm Chuck Bass, by the way."

"I'm Francine. Peters. You're--" Seriously he must've heard new like, a thousand times already, right? Francine fumbled for a way to end that sentence that didn't make her look like an idiot.

"Cute," probably wasn't it.

Oh God, where was a convenient fjord or crevasse or something?

Chuck grinned. "My, you're awfully forward, aren't you?"

Face meet palms, again. "No. Nooo. Not... I didn't mean to say that."

"So you don't think I'm cute?"

"No! I mean, I mean yes! I mean... I didn't mean to say so!" Someday she'd be able to look someplace besides her shoes. Well, the direction of her shoes. She was sure they were down there somewhere. "Did I say my name was Francine? I meant It was, uh. Gertrude. Gertrude Schimmelbottom. The third."

Chuck laughed. "There's no need to be so nervous. I like a girl who's up front."

Those usually were the ones who were easiest to get into bed.

She was so not...well, sometimes. It was just that she didn't usually intend to be quite so up front. "I... guess that's good, then? Yay, um. Directness." Francine gave a weak laugh.

"Directness is very good," Chuck agreed. "Why don't you be direct again and tell me your room number. We could hang out sometime."

If Francine had ~~the sense God gave a squirrel~~ any idea of how far Chuck's definition of "hang out" was from her own, she'd... probably still be so hornswoggled by the OMG a cute boy wants to hang out with meeeeee factor that she'd say exactly the same thing:

"Oh! Wow, ok! I'm in 511. My roomie has a cat; I hope you're not allergic."

"No, I'm not allergic to cats. Thanks for the warning though," He'd be sure not to wear anything too expensive. Cat hair got everywhere. "I'll definitely have to stop by."

Blair was right. There was a whole sea of girls here who didn't know him or what he was like. It was like Christmas for him.

"Great!" Francine grinned dorkily, and somewhere ~~over on the other side of the picnic~~ Katchoo felt the urge to facepalm, and had no idea why.
