Dealing with Stupid People [Monday, June 25, 2nd period]

"Okay, people this is gonna be a...thing...so I recommend coffee. Lots of coffee."

Josh, personally, was on his sixth cup.

"For your final class, I wanted to present you with a challenge." There was a dangerous spark in his eyes. "So I found a couple of special guests. Ladies and gentlemen, the Jerries!"

He hissed to the class, "Ixnay on talk about the overnmentgay."

This...should be something.

Aly arrived to watch some of the insanity just before the class ended.

"It's nice to know that whatever I do tomorrow, the insanity can't compare to this," she said, smirking at Josh.

"I like to set the bar high," Josh agreed, giving her a smile. "Hey, you. How was camping?"

"No one blew themselves up and I think I finally have all the paint out of my hair," she grinned back. "All in all a success."

"Excellent," Josh said, leaning in for a kiss. "I don't even to ask if you won."

Aly winked at him, then kissed him back. "Didn't even cheat."

"That's my girl," Josh said, grinning proudly. "Totally able to take out a rabid pack of teenagers."

She chuckled. "It's good to have an insane mercenary and ninja on your team."

"I've always thought so," Josh agreed. "Of course, I had Sam and Toby, which is kind of the same."

No, not really.

"Your attack dogs?" Aly teased.

"Totally," Josh said, nodding.

No, not really.

"Well, kinda nerdy attack dogs. They can write up a smackdown that would make you cry."

"They know you think of them that way?" she asked, laughing.

"Yeah," Josh said, grinning. "They love it. Hey, what are you up to next week?"

"Not teaching!" Aly said instantly. "Can I meet Sam and Toby and call them attack dogs?"

"Well, Sam's in California and that seems a little far away for a road trip..." Josh said thoughtfully.

Aly's eyes lit up. "But are there State Fairs in an easier distance? We could go hunting them down. Plus, isn't it a big holiday? Won't there be fireworks and festivals and stuff?"

Josh nodded, grinning at her enthusiasm. "Exactly. I still have an in at the White House--you'll never see better fireworks in your life than from the South Lawn there. And North Carolina's close enough to get there for the fair. We can come with a whole route of the suckers--it's time for the country fairs, too."

"Oooh, excellent," she said, beaming. "And then there can be dunk booths and pie-contests and someone's Aunt Ethel winning their 16th needlework prize in a row?"

"Oh, the scandal!" Josh said, nodding. "Because someone else's Aunt Gert has been beat out every year by that rotten Aunt Ethel and there's gonna be a throw-down over at the quilts."

"Which will not even compare to the rivalry over the preserves," Aly agreed. "You know, Tommy's Grandma BUYS her jams and passes them off as her own."

"The great Smuckers controversy," Josh, nodding solemnly. "Everyone knows grape jelly doesn't turn out like that at home."

Aly looked thoughtful. "Maybe we should enter things into the contests."

"Oooooh," Josh said. "I have no skills in that particular direction, but I know where the mall is."

"No, me neither," she agreed hastily. "But it's even better if we buy it and then enter it. What if they never notice?"

"Then we come home with lots of ribbons," Josh said. "I see no down side."

"Best road trip ever," she said with a nod. "Plus? Food on a stick. Or so I hear."
