Rory opened the library, and positioned herself behind the desk with the fan and a book.

Once hidden, he starts digging things out of his bag. Some books, a small pillow, cereal boxes etc. And he starts building a fort.

Those go up as sort of a fortifying wall. And he's even got a flag. That goes in one of the cereal boxes which, unfortunately, is full and spreads Cheerios on the floor.

"Fine, fine. I'm reading..." He picks up the first book he can and reads the title, "...The Fountain!"

Also, there's a pair of his boxers at the forefront of the fort. THEY ARE CLEAN. They're just there for color.
"Sure sure," he replies distractedly. "In a minute. I'm looking for something else."
Yeah, like the two dictionaries he just came upon. Hello columns of power!

"No, I'm fine. Done in a minute." Yeah, right. Once he has the fort built high enough off the ground, John reaches into his bag and pulls out a quilt from his room.
He drapes it over the top of the fort and now he's got a ceiling!
