Rory opened the library, and positioned herself behind the desk with the fan and a book.

[Apologies on the late posting. Am battling the flu - if responses are slow, it's because I fell asleep.]

"See, that I already knew," Willow said. "But why call it a... no, no, I don't want to know. Here is ignorance, hand in hand with my bliss. And my hope that this is not what I'm going to be thinking when I actually get to meet beavers."

"Yeah, good luck with that. It'll be like trying not to laugh in church. Or, um synagogue," she corrected, being culturally conscious.

"Or trying not to think about purple elephants," Willow agreed. "Which I never quite understood because why do we try so hard to ignore the purple elephants but not elephants of other colors? Were the purple ones rude? Are we shunning them? Should someone attempt to broker a peace agreement for the sake of easier conversations?"

"I think that has merit," Rory said, nodding. "I'm not really sure what happened with the purple elephants. Maybe they upset the other elephants. Or maybe they're somehow better than the others, and so we can think of the other elephants as much as we'd like but need to respect the purple ones more."

"Maybe they turned purple and got snotty about it," Willow suggested. She went to go look at the books Rory had listed for her and selected two that looked promising for all things beaver-related. "Snotty elephants have to be bad news. Think of the tissues they'd need."

Rory laughed again. "They'd probably need huge, blankie-sized tissues, in fact. I wonder if anyone makes Kleenex for elephants."

"I wonder if elephants get colds?" Willow asked. She handed the books to Rory so she could check them out. "Maybe I should look into that, assuming that meeting talking elephants is a possibility for my future. I'll have to find out."

"Why are talking animals such a concern?" Rory wondered, scanning the books. "These'll be due in a week."

"I've never met any before," Willow said. "I'm not sure of the protocols. So: research. It hasn't led me wrong yet."

Rory nodded. "I'm pretty sure I've never met a talking animal. But then again, Vladdie talks. It's just that only people like Bridge and Anakin can understand him."

"Bridge has that robot dog," Willow said as she put the books into her bag. "But I guess RIC doesn't really talk properly either."

"He doesn't bark, for one thing," Rory pointed out.

"Still cute though," Willow said. She gave Rory a smile. "I should go. Thanks for the books and, you know, not actually macking on my boyfriend with intent."

"You're welcome on both counts," Rory said, smiling.

"Still friends?" Willow asked.

"Absolutely," Rory promised. "Good luck with the beavers."

"Thanks, Rory," Willow said with a wave as she left.
