Rory opened the library, and positioned herself behind the desk with the fan and a book.

[Apologies on the late posting. Am battling the flu - if responses are slow, it's because I fell asleep.]

"It didn't mean anything," she blurted out, still looking down. "We were both under a spell. He is so very, very much yours and I have no intention of ever, ever kissing anyone else's boyfriend ever again. Ever. Even under a spell. I have no idea how I'm going to manage that, but I'll find a way."

"It was just the spell, right?" Willow asked. "Because I've been through about every variation of cheating, boyfriends, girlfriends, friends and really not so much friends that I care to ever go through and I'm really tired of losing people. Which, um, would include being friends with you, by the way."

Rory looked up and smiled. "No, seriously, it was just the spell. And honestly, not that this probably helps that much, but as far as things that went on that day, it was very tame. Dean and Ivanova had sex, and Anakin and Parker were all over each other. This was one tiny kiss. My...person who I thought I was was still pretty shy, I guess. So yeah. It was just the spell, I promise. No designs on Peter."

"O...kay," Willow said. "Definitely understanding why Dawn hit Dean with a frying pan. Though I personally might've gone for something harder. And thank you for letting me know it was a tiny kiss. Peter didn't get into details and honestly I didn't want him to, but this helps with the imagination and paranoia."

Rory nodded. "It was a very weetiny, chaste kiss. Cross my heart. And yeah, I don't blame Dawn. It's a good thing Anakin doesn't have a girlfriend, though I think maybe he ought to stay away from Caritas and the Sin so he doesn't run into Jarod."

"One time on Halloween there was this spell that turned everybody into their costumes," Willow said. "So I kinda get where the doing or being something you normally wouldn't be comes from. Not that the thought of Peter kissing other girls makes me leap for joy, but as long as it was just the spell I'm willing to pretend it never happened and then quickly change the topic."

"So, um, did you come to look for a book, or just to talk about the thing I'm with you on pretending never happened?" Rory asked.

"Actually on the prowl for books like a book-prowling thing," Willow replied, more than happy to change the subject since, hey, it worked with what she just said. "I need whatever you can give me on beavers, please."

Rory blinked. And then slowly said, "Um. The animal, right?"

"There's another kind?" Willow replied.

"Nope," Rory said immediately, 'cause there was no need to scar anyone. She slid her chair over to the computer and began to type. "Any reason why?"

"Because on the odd chance I happen to meet one, I need to know what to say to them so I don't sound insulting," Willow replied, with all seriousness.

"...you think you're going to meet a talking beaver?"

"And that would be the strangest thing that's ever happened in Fandom?" Willow replied, since she didn't want to get into too many Narnia-related details on the odd chance there were shrubs or nosy squirrels nearby.

She only hoped the squirrels didn't hurt the library books.

"Nope," Rory said, writing something down. "It's just a new one."

"My hope is to maybe learn about their beavery lifestyles?" Willow added, in case that might help Rory's search. "Likes, dislikes, things they'd be inclined to make small talk about if they were capable of talking. You know, the usual."

"I don't think we have information that specific, but we have a bunch of books just on wildlife and a couple on beavers specifically," Rory offered. "They'd probably have stuff about what they eat and where they live, that kind of thing."

"It's a place to start," Willow said. "Between that and internet searches on 'beaver' I should have all the information I need."

Rory facepalmed. "Um. Make sure you turn Safe Search on when you do, okay?" She handed over the information she'd copied off the monitor. "It's all over there in the 460's."

"Why?" Willow asked as she took the slip of paper. "Do people say rude things about beavers? That's such a shame. They're so hardworking. At least I assume so by reputation. I haven't really gotten to know any yet."

"No, it's an, um, euphemism for a body part," Rory said, blushing. "Just Googling 'beaver' might turn up some unexpected stuff."

Long pause.

"So that's what that Naked Gun joke was about?"

Rory nodded. "It's a double entendre, yes."

Willow blushed and facepalmed. "I'll just be over here. With the books. And my shame."

Rory laughed. "No, no, it's good you didn't know. But now you do and you won't find out because the internet is a scary place."
