Book Fair

Giles had gotten up at ack o'clock and actually had toted five boxes of books to the Fandom High Gym before he "cheated."

Everything was now set up neatly on tables, and separated by genre.

There was also coffee and hot water urns, bottled water, and a variety of pastries and breads set on a table near the register.

The First Annual Fandom High Book Fair was open for business.

[ooc: Hang on to your collective hats while I get the OCD threads up, please.

Threads are UP. Whew. I think you all know how this works. Go look for a book. Up to you whether you find it or not. No, there is no magic/new age section. Yes, Giles has planned it that way.

That's it! Go to town! Wait. No. Stay here and buy stuff...]

Bel scratched his head as he browsed through the books. He wanted to get a present for Phoebe, but he had no idea what she might like.

Not even frogs would keep Willow away from a book fair.

Of course she looked very skittered and eepy and was clutching Pumpernickel the kitten very close so that none of the frogs could eat him, but she was there.

"Hey, Bel," she said when she saw him at the table.

"Frogs," she said, by way of an answer.

"Yeah, I noticed," Bel said, glancing around to see if any had invaded the gym. "Not nearly as cute as the kittens."

[ooc: oh, sure, I get home, you take off. ;) ]

Parker paused, looking over the classics, then pointed out Pride & Prejudice. "She might like that one. It's funny, and it's got a lot of sisters in it." She fiddled with a copy of Mansfield Park, then said, "Thanks for trying the help me yesterday. I wasn't exactly myself."

Rory actually had most of these already, though she found a nice copy of Howl. Hers was a little dog-eared.

And of course, she was swatting at those invisible gnats and pursued by completely real frogs all the while.

Elizabeth might have had a list of books that she needed to replace. Actually looking for books in English was always a good start.

"Please. I like the way that writer builds the suspense," Parker said, opening up a copy of The Buccaneers and skimming the first few pages. "How far did you get into the Demesnes novel? Ten pages? Or a hundred?"

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-06-09 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"No problem," Elizabeth said, reaching up for To Kill a Mockingbird. She stuck her tongue out at Parker. "I finished it, thank you very much. With rising disbelief the further I got through it."

Re: Fiction--Classics

Parker snickered. "That's sort of the point of those books. I just got Storms of Silver, and she made the leading man bisexual. Which I didn't even think was legal in a romance novel, but what the hell." She flipped through the Wharton, then held it up. "Have you read this one? Any good? I know it was completed by someone else after she died."

"Is it so the heroine can have a threesome with him and her extraordinarily good in bed, but oh-so-poor bit in the side?" Elizabeth asked. She glanced up at the book Parker was holding. "Can't say that I have, no."
