Book Fair

Giles had gotten up at ack o'clock and actually had toted five boxes of books to the Fandom High Gym before he "cheated."

Everything was now set up neatly on tables, and separated by genre.

There was also coffee and hot water urns, bottled water, and a variety of pastries and breads set on a table near the register.

The First Annual Fandom High Book Fair was open for business.

Threads are UP. Whew. I think you all know how this works. Go look for a book. Up to you whether you find it or not. No, there is no magic/new age section. Yes, Giles has planned it that way.

"I'm fine," Bel said. "I'm tough and I heal fast. Plus good magic can't heal me."

"Really?" Willow looked surprised. "What about magic with mistakes in it?"

Bel laughed. "No, good as in not evil," he explained. "Me being a demon and all."

"Oh," Willow said. "Well that's no fair!"

"Just part of what I am," Bel said, shrugging. "Normal human medicine can help me if I need it, but if I'm really hurt I need a demonic healer."

"Want me to get you an aspirin then?" Willow asked, easily adaptable.

"Nah, like I said, I'm okay," Bel said. "You can barely see the bruise anymore."

Willow squinted and looked hard.

"See, I'm fine. No worries."

"Okay, good," Willow said, relaxing. She turned her attention back to the displays. "Shame I can't buy all of these."

"Where would you put them all?" Bel said.

"That would be part of the problem," Willow agreed. "Maybe some day I'll invent a revolutionary computer program for billions of dollars and then I could buy a house that's one big library. Oh! And hire people to walk around and say Shh!"

"Wouldn't be a library without that," Bel said. He glanced around at the books. "I was hoping there would be a magic section, but I guess not."

"You noticed that too?" Willow said. "I swear it's like Giles hides those books on purporse."

"I was hoping to find a present for Phoebe," Bel said. "I know she'd like something on magic."

Willow looked thoughtful. "Maybe a fictional book on magic?"

"A fantasy book?" Bel said. "Know any good ones?"

"There's this great one about swans," Willow said, looking for it. "It's shaped like a fantasy story but it actually has all sorts of useful magic tricks in it. That is if you know anything about real magic, which some of us do."

"Sounds good to me," Bel said. "I know a thing or two about magic myself, but I gotta study more, because I keep messing things up."

Willow spotted it in one of the other sections. "Here you go! It's that fairy tale? With the princess and the brothers who are swans? Only they made it about real magic. Phoebe might like it from a witchy perspective."

"Cool, thanks," Bel said. "If she likes it, I owe you one."

"You got beat up for me," Willow said. "I'd say we're even. Though that doesn't mean I won't take you up on the offer to zorch some frogs."

"I didn't get beat up," Bel protested. "Just a little bruised. I would've kicked his ass."

"Of course," Willow said, nodding. Possibly she did not believe him.

"Hello, demon," Bel said.
