Wilderness Survival - Week 3| Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

Callisto pointed to the lockbox. "Shoes."

Once she had everyone's shoes, she started walking out of the clearing. "Follow."

Then she took them on a little scenic walk.

With lots of lovely terrain, like mud, sand, rocks, dense undergrowth, a small pond or three.

And lets not forget the ever present pudding rain.

When they finally reached the end of the walking trail, she turned around to face the class.

"Dismissed."

[ooc: OCD threads a-coming are up.

Aeryn hasn't even complained. This might be a sign to anyone trying to talk to her that they should really think twice about that decision.

Yeah, he noticed that she's quiet, but he's supposed to be trying and it's a toss up as to what will annoy her more anyway.

"Hey," he says as he falls into step beside her.

He doesn't bother pointing out the irony of that. "You weren't yesterday either. You gonna be alright?"

After they'd been walking for a bit, Molly moved up to walk by Aeryn.

"Hey, Aeryn. I was wondering if you knew anything more about what Rory was talking about in her email."

Any other day, Aeryn might have had more of a reaction than, "I don't check E-mail." She may have turned herself off at some point.

"Oh," Molly said. "Well, Rory sent out an email to a bunch of people saying she needs help fixing something that she did wrong and that it could get bad. I'm assuming she means monsters of some kind since there are a bunch of us included in the email who are more fighterly than magical. She's having a meeting tonight, but I thought you might know more since you're like the head fighter left among us students. She probably talked to Anakin though."

She nods. "I hadn't heard anything. I'll check for it when we get back."

Sam isn't complaining either, as he's a little busy watching where he steps and thinking about the interesting combination mud and pudding make on the ground.

Buffy was watching the ground too. "...Yuck. So much yuck. A plethora of yuck."

"I don't have any shoes on," she said sadly and her feet went squelch, squelch, swooop as they walked on. "The duck pond is made of coffee now."

Alphonse is very good about not complaining about things, too. Sure, it felt like they were walking around in circles, and even he had to agree the pudding was pretty gross, but he kept his mouth shut.

Parker was trying to concentrate on hiking without hurting her feet too badly, damnit.

Off to the side, though... A Centre Sweeper team came out of the trees, armed with rifles. Bel ran toward her, one arm reaching for her. "Parker! Tell them to stop! Tell them I'll do what they want--" He staggered, and she saw that there were already ten or twelve darts sticking out of his arms and legs. "I don't understand, I'll work for them, why are they..." Another dart. Bel fell at her
feet, face blank with drugs and shock.

Parker shook, looking away.

"Your father said that your notes on Belthazor were most helpful, Miss Parker. We never could have taken him without your assistance."

"No! Damnit," Parker whispered under her breath, and closed her eyes, putting her hands over her ears.

"We're just taking him back to be processed now. Carry on."

Sickened, Parker looked over at Sam, who blinked at her,
unimpressed.

She kept her eyes on her feet, hugging herself as she tried to keep up.

Parker jerked her head up, then relaxed. "Fandom weirdness, I think." She took a breath, the afterimage of Sam still following behind them, his hand on the butt of his gun. "And my head is starting to hurt as well as my feet."

Molly was actually kind of sore from cheer leading practice the day before. She tried to keep her whining to herself as she followed along.

Hamlet wasn't particularly happy about having to take off his shoes in this odd weather, and the sheer distance that Callisto made them travel made it even worse. He was more than ready to head back to his dorm room as they neared the end of the excruciatingly long hike, when he heard what sounded like mutterings from one of the clump of trees near the side of the path. As no one else seemed to notice them, he stepped off the trail to investigate what it was.

Re: Walkabout (WS - Wk3)

[identity profile] ihatedenmark.livejournal.com 2006-06-08 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The muttering got louder the closer he got, and a figure slowly wandered out of the bushes. It was a girl, probably somewhere in her mid to late teens. Despite being in the middle of the woods, she was dripping water from her wet hair to the hem of her soggy dress. She didn't seem to be very aware of where exactly she was.

Hamlet just froze and stared. "...Ophelia?"

Re: Walkabout (WS - Wk3)

[identity profile] ihatedenmark.livejournal.com 2006-06-08 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ophelia didn't look well. Despite Hamlet's presence there, she stared right past him as if he wasn't there. She seemed to be talking, but all he could make out were snatches of pop songs. She kept playing with the bouquet of dead flowers in her hands, and every once in a while she let out a mad giggle.

Re: Walkabout (WS - Wk3)

[identity profile] ihatedenmark.livejournal.com 2006-06-08 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hamlet stumbled back on to the path Callisto had taken them on, and Ophelia followed him out of the woods, still not really with it. She didn't seem to notice when she stepped into a large puddle of pudding.

"O, Ophelia?" he asked. "What are you doing here?"

Alec had no problems with the hike. This? Was a cakewalk. A twisty, obnoxious cakewalk covered in pudding, figs, butterflies and kittens, but a cakewalk.
