Wilderness Survival - Week 3| Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

Callisto pointed to the lockbox. "Shoes."

Once she had everyone's shoes, she started walking out of the clearing. "Follow."

Then she took them on a little scenic walk.



With lots of lovely terrain, like mud, sand, rocks, dense undergrowth, a small pond or three.

And lets not forget the ever present pudding rain.

When they finally reached the end of the walking trail, she turned around to face the class.

"Dismissed."

Aeryn hasn't even complained. This might be a sign to anyone trying to talk to her that they should really think twice about that decision.

Yeah, he noticed that she's quiet, but he's supposed to be trying and it's a toss up as to what will annoy her more anyway.

"Hey," he says as he falls into step beside her.

He doesn't bother pointing out the irony of that. "You weren't yesterday either. You gonna be alright?"

"I'm always all right," she answers. Which is the truth.

He merely raises an eyebrow. "Some days are better than others."

"Then I'm having a lot of bad days," she says, hoping he at least picks up from the tone that if he keeps prodding and she snaps, she doesn't get blamed for it.

"I'm sorry," he says honestly and looks up at the sky, changing the direction of the conversation. "And then there are days it rains pudding. I'm not sure what to make of that."

It's better than going silent and it being her fault again. Yes, Molly made her paranoid.

He glances at her and shrugs. "It's sticky? Cam, I'm really not in the mood so please shut up now?"

Cameron shrugs again. "You don't need to endlessly babble about nothing if you don't feel like it. It's perfectly fine to just be quiet, unless that's uncomfortable too. I think the whole comfortable thing might take a while still."

So Aeryn goes quiet. And it's still uncomfortable, but she likes this better.

Which is kinda fine by him as he goes back to concentrating on avoiding sharp rocks because ow.

After they'd been walking for a bit, Molly moved up to walk by Aeryn.

"Hey, Aeryn. I was wondering if you knew anything more about what Rory was talking about in her email."

Any other day, Aeryn might have had more of a reaction than, "I don't check E-mail." She may have turned herself off at some point.

"Oh," Molly said. "Well, Rory sent out an email to a bunch of people saying she needs help fixing something that she did wrong and that it could get bad. I'm assuming she means monsters of some kind since there are a bunch of us included in the email who are more fighterly than magical. She's having a meeting tonight, but I thought you might know more since you're like the head fighter left among us students. She probably talked to Anakin though."

She nods. "I hadn't heard anything. I'll check for it when we get back."

Molly nodded as well and walked along quietly for a bit. She was mostly watching the ground for obstacles and chewing her bottom lip, but she was also trying to work up the nerve to admit she was wrong.

Finally, she sighed and spoke again. "Aeryn, I'm sorry for butting in the other night on what's going on with you and Cam. It just..." she sighed again. "The idea of ending a friendship before fighting tooth and nail to fix it bothered me a lot. If me and my friends back home hadn't stuck together through everything that happened to us, I would have been alone by the time I was twelve.

"But, this is completely different and I don't know all of the stuff that has happened between you and Cam. I should have stayed out of it. So, I'm sorry if I did anything to upset you even more. Whatever you decide to do is up to you."

"Don't worry about it, it's fine," Aeryn says, semi-automatically. Points for the apology, but she's already in shutdown mode.

It didn't sound fine, but Molly had to accept Aeryn's word. She nodded again and walked along with Aeryn quietly for a while.
