Wilderness Survival - Week 3| Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

Callisto pointed to the lockbox. "Shoes."

Once she had everyone's shoes, she started walking out of the clearing. "Follow."

Then she took them on a little scenic walk.

With lots of lovely terrain, like mud, sand, rocks, dense undergrowth, a small pond or three.

And lets not forget the ever present pudding rain.

When they finally reached the end of the walking trail, she turned around to face the class.

"Dismissed."

[ooc: OCD threads a-coming are up.

"You should go to the clinic," said Janet, pausing to sling her backpack to the ground. Fig pudding would wash out, after all. She hoped. She crouched down, unzipped it, and pulled out a bottle of painkillers--slightly stronger than your standard OTC--and a small bottle of water. "How long have you had the headache? Have you taken anything for it yet?" She waited to find out the answer before doling any painkillers out from the bottle.

Parker shook her head. "I woke up with it, but I thought it would go away." And just stress from freaking Fandom. "So I didn't take anything." She licked her lips. "My eyes are playing tricks on me," she admitted, blinking hard. Sydney faded in, then faded out, along with Sam.

"Apparently not," said Janet, gauging the pinched look around Parker's eyes. She opened up the bottle and shook three pills into her hand, then stood and held them out to Parker, along with the bottle of water. "Playing what kind of tricks?" she asked, her voice careful and even. That was never a good sign. Ever.

"After-images," since that was easier to say than hallucinations, and, "the edges around things are wavy, sometimes. And I keep thinking I see things out of the corner of my eyes--"

Kyle wandered through the far clearing. He waved to Parker, threw a rock at a squirrel, then walked out of sight.

"--but when I look nothing's there." Parker took the water and pills gratefully, and closed her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Afterimages," said Janet calmly, an undercurrent of worry threading through her gut. Her internal radar for something seriously wrong was going off. "That sounds like it might be more serious than the normal Fandom weirdness. Do you want to stop by the clinic later and make sure there's not a simple, organic cause to this?"

"Maybe? Yes." Because if there was a simple answer, Parker was all for it. "Okay." Because if it wasn't Fandom, then she was in serious trouble.

Parker sighed, and looked ahead. "I *wish* she didn't have to be on this tear today. You think I'd end up on the cheerleading squad with you if I told Callisto I was sick? I've already got Detention."

"If she starts yelling at you, ignore her," said Janet. "I've got access to unlimited absence excuse slips, the ability to forge Tommy's signature, and you are definitely not in any shape to do a hike, especially with the mood she's in. Did you want to *handwavily* meet at the clinic later? Believe it or not, I've got a standard battery of tests for people having afterimages." Her grin was rueful.

"That would be *handwavily* great." Parker snorted. "I sadly, do not find that difficult to believe." She looked down the path, and worked her jaw. "Thanks, Janet."

"If there's an organic cause, we'll find it. If we don't find anything, at least you'll know it's Fandom weirdness." Janet's voice was reassuring. "Any time, Parker. And I do mean that."
