Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

Nadia was anxious to frighten intimidate welcome the new students with lots of horror stories.

She was also keeping an eye out for the new roommie.

Marty sat down next to Nadia. "So are you looking forward to freaking out the new set of students coming in for summer session?"

"I'm here to help guide them to further success." Nadia answered. She almost even kept a straight face. "You?"

"Riiiiight," Marty said with a little eye roll. "I'll let you tell them about the gremlins but I still get to freak them out with the ex-assassin bit.'

"Yeah, but you got to say it in a way that they might think it's a joke but then again think twice about it when they learn *exactly* how wierd this place is," Marty said laughing. "Kind of like how I freaked you out with the ex-assassin bit."

Nadia nodded. "I'll have to practice, then. Do you want to tell them about the zombies and snow monsters?"

"Let's split the deal and I'll take the zombies and you can take the snow monsters," Marty suggested. "Is there anything else weird I'm forgetting?"

"Evil dentists?" Nadia started ticking things off on her fingers. "Muppet chickens, lemurs, the laundry machines, weetiny bunnies, doors that refuse to open unless you sing to them," she took a breath. "Vicious attack programs in the danger shop, teachers that turn you into animals, infectious haiku, waking up as a little kid. . . ." She blinked, staring at her hands as she ran out of fingers. "We'll have them running away screaming."

"You forgot genderswapping," Marty said with a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. "But hopefully that won't happen again anytime soon."

Jude was skating. Slowly, granted, but he still almost managed to collide with Nadia. He swerved around her and stopped, smiling sheepishly. "Sorry about that, bra," he drawled.

This guy needed to meet the corner-boys. "And we have a Kwik Stop."

"Maybe they're worried about the gremlins and the vampires and the fireball-throwing demons," Jude replied blandly. Nothing as insignificant as fireball-throwing demons could harsh his mellow.
