School Auditorium: MSND Rehearsal (1-5 p.m. FST)

All members of the production got an email this morning telling them to report to the auditorium at 1 p.m. EST to rehearse acts I and II and the "extra" bits of the play. When they gather, they will find Dream sitting on the bare stage, looking rather impatient.

"You are here to rehearse the play. I believe you can manage that. If you are playing the Tooth Fairy,
Steve Austin, Jaime Sommers, Lobster, Drunken Pirate, Kickass Ninja or Chuck Norris, please report to the orchestra pit to discuss your roles with me. Otherwise, read through Acts I and II in their entirety."

That said, Dream moves to the orchestra pit and takes a seat. He may be waiting for the student directors to join him.

Parker, being bored, bored, bored, turned up her MP3 player and waited for the other fairies to show up. She wasn't supposed to be asleep during this act, but she gave a good imitation of it, draped over a theater seat with her ear-buds in. Yawn.

Lana came over and sat down beside her. "I think I could use a nap myself," she said.

"Mm. It's been quite a week." Parker pulled her earbuds out of her ears and attempted to be awake. "What did you get up to?"

"Kind of a mix of best of times, worst of times," Lana said ruefully. "Best was getting to spend lots of time with Shep. Worse was trying to help Angel. Not that I could do much more than sit with him and keep him company from time to time. Oh, and I got a job at the bookstore."

She smiled at Parker. "How was England?"

"A mix of ridiculous and sublime. Some minor felonies, no arrests, a transformation or two, and the usual tourist stuff." Parker shook her head. "God knows what kind of trip it would've been without running around looking for items for Angel's potion. I'm glad you had a good break." She cocked her head. "You're working at Aereopagitica? With Mr. Giles?"

"It certainly wasn't the break any of us had envisioned," Lana replied. "Yeah, at Aereopagitica with Mr. Giles. Kind of a weird first week. He was hardly around - doing research to help Angel. I was pretty much on my own. Which was fine."

She yawned, covering her mouth. "Sorry, not the company, I promise. So... you going to the party for Angel tonight? Janet roped me into helping with decorations and stuff."

"Mmm. More than likely. Someone's got to whap him into line and keep him from doing too much. I'm sure Callisto could do it if she weren't so relieved. But I'm happy to step in." She shook her head. "I can't believe we have classes tomorrow. And I've got library. No one better expect me to be helpful."

"Oh God that's right. Classes start up tomorrow. I'm working in the morning, then classes, then club - Angel should be there so I can keep an eye on him then..."

She looked around. "Not the most lively of rehearsals. I think we're all too exhausted to be much good."

"Possibly." Parker looked around, her eyes narrowing, then her mouth twitched. "And my part in this act is tiny, and Lee and I have already rehearsed it. Do you want to be Hermia or Helena? Since Nadia's chatting over there, and Callisto's not here yet."

"Sure," Lana replied. "I can read either of them. It would be fun to actually say some lines other than 'And I!' and 'Hail!'" She grinned. "Do you want to just run the lines or do you want to go up on stage and run through it with the blocking?"

"Why not? If Nadia or Callisto get here, we can hand if off to them, with our 'improvements'," Parker said with a grin. "Dibs on Hermia!"

She went upstage and flipped through to Act I, Scene I, when Helena comes to hear about how Hermia's father was ordering marriage or death. "Your cue, madame."

Lana took her place. "From 'God Speed, good Helena' then?"

She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she foudn her place in the script and launched into the beginning of the speech.

"Call you me fair? that fair again unsay.
Demetrius loves your fair: O happy fair!
Your eyes are lode-stars; and your tongue's sweet air
More tuneable than lark to shepherd's ear,
When wheat is green, when hawthorn buds appear.
Sickness is catching: O, were favour so,
Yours would I catch, fair Hermia, ere I go.."

She finished with a toss of her head.

After she quit giggling like a maniac over Nadia and the antennae, and everyone else cracking up, Parker went back to studying her script, still smiling in amusement.

"Parker! Long time no see!" Lee says, sliding over next to her. "Or is it Ill met by moonlight" he continues, looking to see if the directors are watching.

"You tell me," she drawled, not looking up from her script. "Jealous Oberon." Then she cocked an eyebrow at him warily. "Since I have forsworn thy bed and company."

"Such a pity," he replies with only a tinge of anger. "Err... Tarry, rash wanton: am not I thy lord?"

Very evenly, Parker replied, "Then I must be thy lady." She shook her head at him, then went on, "but I know when thou hast stolen away from fairy land, and in the shape of Corin sat all day, playing on pipes of corn and versing love to amorous Phillida." She paused, her chin going up in challenge, and then said very softly, "How is your buskin'd Amazon and your lady love?"

Oberon (or is it Lee?) growls at that and retorts, "How canst thou thus for shame, Titania, glance at my credit with Hippolyta, knowing I know thy love to Theseus?" He continues with the list of wrongs done against Theseus' other lovers due to her caprice.

Parker found herself laughing in true amusement, wishing she were guilty of all that, instead of the stupidity she'd committed earlier in the day. "These are the forgeries of jealousy." Parker (or Titania?) cocked her head at him, and smiled evilly, then went into glorious detail on the litany of disasters that their fighting had caused. "And this same progeny of evils comes from our debate, from our dissension; We are their parents and original," she finished grimly, studying Lee with as much intensity as she was capable of.

He takes her hand again and presses it against his heart. "Do you amend it then; it lies in you: Why should Titania cross her Oberon? I do but beg a little changeling boy, To be my henchman," he canjoles almost kindly.

" Set your heart at rest: The fairy land buys not the child of me." And it was so easy, today, to draw her hand away. Not icy, but simply detached, feeling as remote as a distant shore. She went on to explain all the whys of Titania, then finished with a determined, "And for her sake do I rear up her boy, And for her sake I will not part with him." And if she was thinking of someone else, well. That only made it easier.

"Perhaps until after Theseus' wedding day." Parker studied Lee, remembering her dream from the night before, and shook her head, having to force meaning into her next words. "If you will patiently dance in our round, and see our moonlight revels, go with us--"

And she paused. "Damnit."

He smiles, picturing her dancing in his arms, and then the smile falters, waiting for her next line.
