Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2015, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

Right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, the ceremony for graduation was ready to go. The lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths for everyone to get to the seating area. There were blue and gold streamers flapping peacefully in the breeze, and of course, the makeshift paths were covered in glitter.

Look, if the supply wasn't going down, Zoe was just going to embrace the glitter madness for the sake of her own personal sanity.

Congratulations, Class of 2015! You made it to graduation day! Now you just had to get through the ceremony. At least nothing looked oddly out of place this year?

Beth hadn't been out of New York in a long, long time. It'd been hard to convince her doctors to let her leave at this point but Jon had been persuasive and it helped that she had someone with her to keep her from getting too overwhelmed.

She smiled across at Joi and waited patiently for the ceremony to start.

Joi returned the smile gently before glancing back at the stage. She hadn't ever been to one of these and, if she'd been honest, she didn't think Flick's would be the one that she'd end up going to. Surprises all around, it seemed.

After seeing this woman and the girl next to her cheer for Flick when she crossed the stage, Kathy made her way over to them both and offered a smile. "Hi," she said, offering a hand. "I'm Kathy. Flick's roommate. I saw you cheering and thought I should say hello."

Elsa hated crowds, but her boyfriend was graduating today, so she was perfectly willing to make an exception to be here today. Sure, she'd staked out a spot in the crowd that was close to an exit, in case she needed to make a break for it for whatever reason, but the important thing was that she was here.

And if said boyfriend ever looked up from his phone at the audience long enough to see that much, she'd even smile and give him a little wave hello, too!

Karla hadn't seen Elsa since their showdown outside of Needful Things, so as soon as she saw Elsa in the crowd before the ceremony started, she beelined over.

"Hi," she said quietly. "That chair taken?"

Kathy had far too many friends graduating today to not show up. And since yesterday had been industriously spent with paint, posterboard, and Fandom-appropriate levels of glitter, she was ready to send her friends off in style.

Nathan actually knew a few of the people graduating today so he'd wandered out to the ceremony and taken a seat so he could experience something new.

Atton arrived... eventually.

In fact, Pomp and Circumstance had already played and the speeches had already happened by the time he sank into a seat, baseball cap on his head (to look normal for the crowd, not to hide the new haircut, honest).

He was thirsty. He should've brought a soda or something.

Liara was unsure if she even knew anyone who would be picking up their diploma today, but still, there was something that felt pleasantly wrapped up by her presence here.

She held on to Yeul's small hand until it was time to be seated, and then sank into a chair.

Yeul wriggled her toes as she got settled in her own chair. Her feet didn't dangle off the edge, and she couldn't see over the backs everyone else's heads but that was alright.

Just getting to listen was pleasing enough.

"I do not remember how many graduates there were going to be this year," Yeul admitted to Liara. "Will it matter?"

Karla was checking her phone for updates about Leda and Momoko, but she couldn't not show up for graduation. Not when there were people she'd gone to school with walking across the stage, never mind students she'd actually taught.

Yeul had...well, alright, she had not slipped away from Liara so much as told Liara where she was going and toddled off anyway.

Getting to Karla had required some crawling under chairs and then wobbling back to her feet and making her way along the row of chairs, using them occasionally as balance.

There was one set of knees that she wasn't using just as balance though.

"Hello, Karla," Yeul said. Her voice was younger, more piping than it had been the last time they'd spoken, but the inflections and pleasure were the same. Yeul blinked huge green eyes up at Karla, and smiled.

A good friend of Sam's was graduating so he'd come into town for the ceremony. He didn't plan on staying long but he had time enough to see Toby graduate.

Jones eyed the bleachers and elected to stand to the side to watch the procession and the audience. If you thought that any of this brought some kind of sentiment to Jones' face... Nope. You were wrong.

Not many of these students had been Jono's students over the years, but that wasn't going to stop him from being here to politely applaud the lot of them, regardless.

He'd been there, he'd graduated Fandom High. He knew it wasn't an accomplishment to ignore.

He was still going to hang around the back, though. He wasn't in the habit of drawing attention to himself at these things, where visitors from elsewhere might take a moment to look twice.

Robert sat with his back straight, cutting an imposing figure in the audience, demanding respect merely by sitting in place.

As was often the case with Lightwoods, he was covering something up.

Of course Baldur was here to see Soren graduate! And very happy about it, too. The whole thing was a bit unusual for a berserker, of course, but then Soren was a bit unusual, being not only the Sun's Berserk, but his friend.

Despite the fact that he wasn't her favorite god (although, which one was?), Vider was sitting next to Baldur, since she figured they were Soren's cheering section. She'd tried to explain the whole ceremony to him, but it wasn't like she was that familiar with it either, so possibly they both had things very wrong.

Hannibal had students graduating, and there was likely to be interesting trouble, so naturally he was here.

Sia was graduating, so naturally Four was there.

His letter from the Dauntless council was crumpled in his pocket--he didn't have long left on the island himself.

Bod was far too old to know anyone that was graduating but he had a day off, he'd gotten the invitation and he was an alumni so why not come back and see what insanity this graduation ceremony enjoyed?

Kitty had students who were graduating, so she showed up and found a halfway decent seat. Also, she figured it was better to see whatever drama happened firsthand rather than waiting to hear about it on radio.

Anakin hadn't missed a graduation in almost ten years.

He was here, and armed, and ready (hopefully) for whatever was coming.
