Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2015, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

Right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, the ceremony for graduation was ready to go. The lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths for everyone to get to the seating area. There were blue and gold streamers flapping peacefully in the breeze, and of course, the makeshift paths were covered in glitter.

Look, if the supply wasn't going down, Zoe was just going to embrace the glitter madness for the sake of her own personal sanity.

Congratulations, Class of 2015! You made it to graduation day! Now you just had to get through the ceremony. At least nothing looked oddly out of place this year?

Not many of these students had been Jono's students over the years, but that wasn't going to stop him from being here to politely applaud the lot of them, regardless.

He'd been there, he'd graduated Fandom High. He knew it wasn't an accomplishment to ignore.

He was still going to hang around the back, though. He wasn't in the habit of drawing attention to himself at these things, where visitors from elsewhere might take a moment to look twice.

Hanging around the back just meant that it took more effort of Yeul to find you, Jono, and that wasn't very nice at all when she wasn't the most balanced of toddlers. Her limp always threw her off more when she was tiny than it did when she was taller--and she couldn't see over people to make sure she was still going the right way.

Still, once she found Jono, Yeul did not mean to hug his legs, so much as, had she not, she would have fallen.

But it would serve to get his attention in any case, she supposed.

//Er, hullo, little-- Yeul?//

There was a long list of things that Jono hadn't been expecting to see here at graduation. The random toddler hug was way up there on that list, oddly enough. Higher up on that list than even the dragons that were still yet to come. Actually recognizing that toddler from one of the island's strange warped-reality weekends ages before now? That was pretty unexpected, too.

He took a moment to offer her his hand, to help her steady herself, so that he could crouch down and talk to her a little more on her own level.

//It's good to see you, luv.//

Also, you were adorable and he was squeeing a little on the inside. But those weren't things he generally just announced in casual conversation.

"Hello, Professor," Yeul said, smiling up at him and making no move to let go of his hand. "It's good to see you as well. Have you been well?"

//I really have no cause for complaint,// Jono replied, smiling at her from where he was crouching now. //I was a little sick a while back, but I seem to have recovered.//

A little sick, in that 'mostly kind of dead' sort of way. You know. 'Little.'

//How're you, luv? Visiting for graduation, or are you planning on sticking around for a while?//

"Just for graduation, I think," Yeul admitted. "We had not planned to visit for it specifically, but the timing was serendipitous."

She studied Jono carefully.

"I am glad you are feeling better."

Serendipity indeed. It was good to see her alive and well, if... smaller. A side-effect of being reborn, naturally.

//Thank you,// Jono replied easily. //Have you got plans from here on out, then, if you're not sticking around?//

"We are going back to Liara's world," she said, after a moment's thought. "Liara has us out at a dig site of some sort."

Yeul did not really know, and that was okay with her. Caius knew more.

"But Karla has invited us to visit her world, so I expect that we will do that at some point."

She needed to apologize to Saetan for dying on him.

Saetan was probably pretty used to people dying on him, by this point. Though the visit would likely be appreciated all the same.

//Ah, you're here with Liara?// Jono took a moment to glance around the crowd, paused, and nodded once he caught the telltale glimpse of blue. //It's good to see that she's doing well, as well. She left without much in the way of fanfare. It was to find you?//

That struck him as kind of perfect, actually.

Yeul bobbed her head.

"Yes," she agreed. "She found Caius, and they found me. Liara was quite insistent upon coming along as I understand it."

//Well,// Jono replied, smiling back down at Yeul, //then you must mean a great deal to her. I'm glad she found you both.//

"She sounds a lot like Caius is some ways now," Yeul admitted. "It has been interesting."

Not bad, not good, but different.

//One thing almost everyone can say about Fandom Island takeaways,// Jono mused. //They're interesting. I'm glad to see she found you. I'd wondered about you both. To see you here now is... it's refreshing.//

A weight off his shoulders, maybe. He worried.

She blinked, mildly puzzled.

"You knew I would be reborn though," Yeul said quietly.

How could he worry, knowing that?

//I did,// Jono agreed, shrugging one shoulder a little, lopsidedly. //But there's more to life than being alive. I'm glad to see that you were found by friends. That you're in good company, now.//

Yeul did not really understand and her gaze showed that, while she didn't understand, she was alright with that.

"I am pleased to have brought you some relief," she said softly.

Jono gave her tiny hand a gentle squeeze. He figured she wouldn't understand. He was used to that, by now. That didn't mean he wasn't going to speak his mind when the topic came up.

"And Liara as well, I imagine."

"Yes," she agreed, then added: "She takes good care of me."

So he didn't have to worry about that either.

//I wouldn't expect any less,// Jono replied. //She's a good friend. A good person. I suspect she'll be there for you for a long time.//

The lengthy Asari lifespan helped.

//And if there's anything I can do, if you do continue to visit the island from time to time or otherwise, it would be my pleasure.//
