Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2015, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

Right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, the ceremony for graduation was ready to go. The lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths for everyone to get to the seating area. There were blue and gold streamers flapping peacefully in the breeze, and of course, the makeshift paths were covered in glitter.

Look, if the supply wasn't going down, Zoe was just going to embrace the glitter madness for the sake of her own personal sanity.

Congratulations, Class of 2015! You made it to graduation day! Now you just had to get through the ceremony. At least nothing looked oddly out of place this year?

Elsa nodded a little bit herself, in agreement.

"Well... any time that my presence there wouldn't be an imposition, I'd love the opportunity," she decided. "Thank you."

"Of course," Karla said. "And I'll even keep Lucivar from trying to drag you outside for training at oh dark thirty in the morning." Because she cared, Elsa. Because she cared. "You can bring your boyfriend along with you, too, if you'd like. A Kaeleeran Court is an excellent place for someone to acquire the bare minimum of polish while still keeping the rough edges that make them them."

Trust her, Elsa. It was literally the bare minimum.

"Once he deals with my Court, no amount of pomp and circumstance will be able to faze him."

The corner of Elsa's mouth twitched a little. She couldn't help but smile at the thought.

"I suppose if anybody needs polish..." she mused, thinking back on the weekend their children had shown up to visit.

"I'll ask him if he's interested. I still don't completely know what it is he has planned, now that he's graduated."

She had maybe been a little scared to ask.

"And if he's concerned that it's all gonna be formal dinners and stuffy conversation, tell him to go back and listen to...oh, I don't know. Any radio podcast that involved visitors from Kaeleer. Bloody Hell, my parents showed up the other weekend and that devolved into a physical brawl with my fiancé."

Kaeleer gave a very special kind of polish. It was more a deadly honing with a whetstone.

"How are you feeling, with him graduating?" she asked.

"I... don't know, entirely," Elsa admitted, after a brief pause. "We had a bit of a falling out, back during break, because he couldn't see into the future and figure out how everything was going to work out. We've since worked past it, but it does still sort of mean that everything is a little bit up in the air."

A touch. A smidgen.

"It'll be strange, him not being here. I mean, I'll be sad to see Joker go too. He was one of my first friends here. Possibly the first person to know about my powers, at that. But Barry..." She frowned a little. "I could be more myself around Barry than anybody."

Karla nodded. "I remember my junior year graduation," Karla said. "I lost damn near everyone that year. My boyfriend, my roommate, the rest of my very close friends..."

The perils of befriending people who were older than you! Every graduation had been a war of attrition.

"Can I ask you more about your fight?" She gave Elsa a wry smile. "Kind of an expert about boyfriends from other worlds who are in no way considered suitable."

Elsa chewed her lip for a moment, and then nodded a little.

"Of course," she replied. "I was a bit antsy at the time. I don't do well with boats. And we were talking, and it came up in conversation that things would be easier for us if he was royalty. We're going to have a lot of people with high expectations. Which... I think he took to mean... I'm not sure what. But he stormed off a few times on me while I was trying to talk to him, because he really didn't want to face the possibility that we can't make it work out, once I go back to Arendelle."

Because she would be going back to Arendelle. That wasn't even a question.
