Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Throughout the lawn, tables and chairs had been set up and scattered, some out in the bright, sunny center of everything, and some in the darker, more remote areas.

Eat up, folks! Don't let that food go to waste!

[OCD up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Barry paused to watched the sproinging pink pony.

He knew this island was strange but-

Pinkie paused mid-sproing. "Ooo," she said, looking around above her, then between her own legs to see behind her. "What is? Where?"

"Not where I come from," Pinkie said brightly, then abruptly looked gloomy. "It's very sad that the human worlds never have any talking ponies in them."

"I once saw a giant talking ape. Does that count?"

"We'll that's like saying horses and donkeys are the same," Barry said with a frown. "And he was a huge fucking ape too!"

Pinkie tilted her head. "Well, it might be like saying that horses and donkeys look the same. Which they kinda do. Way more than horses and buffalo or horses and cows."

Barry suddenly realized he was not going to win this argument against pink pony logic.

"We'll do you have humans where you live?"

Pinkie rolled her eyes. "I know that now," she said. "But I didn't even know what those weird little fingery things were when I got here."

The closest she'd seen were Spike's dragon claws, after all.

Kaylin's eyes were huge. She'd seen horses, of course, but not of this color and never just left to wander about.

Besides, horses were scary. They were big and could stomp on you and this one sproinging around was just trouble waiting to happen.

Ooo, new student! Pinkie stopped sproinging to wave. "Hiya! I'm Pinkie Pie, what's your name?"

And she seemed to be speaking Elantran - which everyone else did for some reason. She hadn't head even Low Barrani anywhere. Not that she'd seen any Barrani around, but that was another issue entirely.

"I... I'm Kaylin Neya. And you are a talking horse?"

"Kaylin Neya. That's pretty!" Pinkie said. "And technically, I'm a talking pony. Horses are taller."

"I wouldn't know," Kaylin said. "They all make me nervous so I stay away. I thought you were just a tiny horse."

She looked at her uncertainly. "Are you magic?"

"Nope," Pinkie said. "I'm just an earth pony, not a unicorn."

"Unicorns?" Kaylin asked. "The things with the horn on their head?"

This was indeed an interesting place if all the horses were like this. No wonder they had to come up with things like those buses.

She missed the company of other ponies, sometimes.

"Horse things with horns on their heads?" Kaylin asked in amazement. "No. I don't even really know any horses. They scare me."

Yes, she was talking to a horse - er, pony - but yes, she was still a bit scared.

"Oh gosh!" Pinkie said. "We're not scary at all, we're usually super friendly! At least where I come from. And that's only counting the ponies that don't go creepy and evil."

She was so helpful.

"Well, I'm bigger than a dog or a baby dragon," Pinkie allowed. "But bouncing isn't scary, is it?"
