Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Throughout the lawn, tables and chairs had been set up and scattered, some out in the bright, sunny center of everything, and some in the darker, more remote areas.

Eat up, folks! Don't let that food go to waste!

[OCD up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I wouldn't know," Kaylin said. "They all make me nervous so I stay away. I thought you were just a tiny horse."

She looked at her uncertainly. "Are you magic?"

"Nope," Pinkie said. "I'm just an earth pony, not a unicorn."

"Unicorns?" Kaylin asked. "The things with the horn on their head?"

This was indeed an interesting place if all the horses were like this. No wonder they had to come up with things like those buses.

"Exactly!" Pinkie said. "Do you know any?"

She missed the company of other ponies, sometimes.

"Horse things with horns on their heads?" Kaylin asked in amazement. "No. I don't even really know any horses. They scare me."

Yes, she was talking to a horse - er, pony - but yes, she was still a bit scared.

"Oh gosh!" Pinkie said. "We're not scary at all, we're usually super friendly! At least where I come from. And that's only counting the ponies that don't go creepy and evil."

She was so helpful.

Which was really the scarier part.

"Well, I'm bigger than a dog or a baby dragon," Pinkie allowed. "But bouncing isn't scary, is it?"

"I've never seen a baby dragon," Kaylin admitted. "But the full-grown ones are scary enough."

Even in there human form, which thank the gods, any of them, was all she'd seen them in.

And yes, bouncing was totally scary.

"Full grown dragons are pretty scary," Pinkie agreed. "And mean. They actually don't grow up until they become selfish and start hoarding things."

Pinkie's world was weird.

"I wouldn't know much about that," Kaylin admitted, "But you may be right."

"I do," Pinkie assured her. "One of my best friends is a baby dragon."

"Do you speak Dragon?" Kaylin asked. "Or do you just speak High Barrani to it?"

"Uhhh," Pinkie said. "I just speak Equestrian. Like you!"

What? Everypony clearly spoke Equestrian. Even the humans.

Because why wouldn't she be, really?

"I'm... not such a good student," Kaylin admitted. "Most of my teachers despair of me."

"I can't really blame them," Kaylin said. "I just... their classes aren't things that can do anything for me."

"Well, I'll betcha that won't be the case here! There's all sorts of neato classes! Like baking and teamwork and video games and being awesome!"

Kaylin looked at her skeptically. Baking? Being awesome? And what in all the world were video games?

"I guess we'll see," she said.

Okay, yes, she'd done that before, but in this case...

"I wouldn't do that! Marcus would never let me be a Hawk if I ran away from here!"
