Advanced Criminal Justice, Class 10, Period 1, 02.09.06
[OOC: After Tuesday? Easy class. Have fun. No real need to take notes, even though Tick mentions it, and no real need to keep the chatter at a minimum. I kind of want to know what happens in the episode by the time class is done, so chatter away. Class Info Post.]
The Tick was standing at the podium when the class walked in. Lockheed was in the back of the room with popcorn.
"Okay, class! After the... fun of Tuesday's class," Tick began, abusing sarcasm on the word "fun," "I thought it would be a good idea to slow things down, take it a little easy, and do a few little things today. Most importantly, at the end of class, Rory will be giving you a writing assignment. Yes, class, you will have an essay to do."
"Before that, though, we will be watching an episode of Crime & Punishment which starts with Detectives Larry Boscoe and Mark Loggin investigating a murder in a hotel. Please take some notes on how the different branches of Justice are portrayed in the series and keep the chatter at a minimum."
"But before we do that, I have something brief I would like everyone to do. It's voluntary, but I really would appreciiate it if everyone did it. For both my sake and yours, I would like you to take a vow in the name of this class. You too, Rory."
[Continued in the OCD threads whichwill be up in a moment are up. Rory will have her own thread for the writing assignment, so watch for that. Writing assignment is up. Give it to Rory by next Thursday.
And now there is toast. You know what kind.]

The ACJ Vow [Class 10]
"I, [state your name], hereby solemnly vow that if I plot with more than a quarter of the students in this class to do something that could in all likelyhood result in my death or the death of others, I will give Professor Tick at least 48 hours notice so that he may either talk me out of my crazed plan or at least offer advice so that the potential for death can be decreased."
Re: The ACJ Vow [Class 10]
"I, Bridge Carson, SPD Cadet, hereby solemnly vow that if I plot with more than a quarter of the students in this class to do something that could in all likelyhood result in my death or the death of others, I will give Professor Tick at least 48 hours notice so that he may either talk me out of my crazed plan or at least offer advice so that the potential for death can be decreased."
He doesn't add that the likelihood of anyone talking him out of something he's set his mind to is slim to none, but he sees the logic in at least letting his teacher *try*, if it came to that. Plus, pointers are always good. He also considers asking what's expected in a situation where immediate action needs to be taken, and there's no *time* for a 48-hour notice, but he doesn't actually ask.
[ooc: holy crap going to sleep now kthxbai *thud*]

She mave have a) sounded like each word was being extracted with dental pliers and b) been crossing her fingers behind her back.
Re: The ACJ Vow [Class 10]
"No disrespect intended," Angel said. "I get what you're trying to say. But a vow won't make me change how I feel. If I come to you, you'll know it's because I trust you, not because you made me recite a pledge."

Sam wonders if this counts since he's not really Marty...

She then looked around the classroom and counted heads, to see exactly how many people from the class could be involved before she violated the vow. Plus, there was always the option of asking people outside of class.

Parker's mostly sincere about this. And she figures, if it *really* is something she doesn't want Professor Tick to know about, she can always blame it on her cell.

She practically leapt back into her seat, face red.

Not that I would necessarily even know about such a plot myself, of course."
She may be glaring at several of the other students. Besides, she tended to work alone herself, so this shouldn't be a problem for her.

Veronica figures there's no harm in taking the vow, since Marty is the only person in the class she's ever plotted with and that was just a simple B&E.
Crime & Punishment [Class 10]
[OOC: Yep, this is your standard discussion thread this time. Like I said, please describe the episode. Have fun with it.]

Occasionally he pretends to fall asleep in class and other times will mutter the words "Doink-Doink" underneath his breath whenever there's a scene transition.

ZOMG EPISODE SPOILERS, so feel free to ping him here.]Essay Prompt
Write a 150 word essay (due Th. 2/16) on something you’ve encountered that you feel embodies Justice better than anything else.
Whether your subject be a person, an object, an intangible emotion, or an event - the essay needs to be well-written and will be subjected to the criticism and grading of your somewhat obsessive-compulsive TA.
Make it good.
