Advanced Criminal Justice, Class 10, Period 1, 02.09.06

[OOC: After Tuesday? Easy class. Have fun. No real need to take notes, even though Tick mentions it, and no real need to keep the chatter at a minimum. I kind of want to know what happens in the episode by the time class is done, so chatter away. Class Info Post.]

The Tick was standing at the podium when the class walked in. Lockheed was in the back of the room with popcorn.

"Okay, class! After the... fun of Tuesday's class," Tick began, abusing sarcasm on the word "fun," "I thought it would be a good idea to slow things down, take it a little easy, and do a few little things today. Most importantly, at the end of class, Rory will be giving you a writing assignment. Yes, class, you will have an essay to do."

"Before that, though, we will be watching an episode of Crime & Punishment which starts with Detectives Larry Boscoe and Mark Loggin investigating a murder in a hotel. Please take some notes on how the different branches of Justice are portrayed in the series and keep the chatter at a minimum."

"But before we do that, I have something brief I would like everyone to do. It's voluntary, but I really would appreciiate it if everyone did it. For both my sake and yours, I would like you to take a vow in the name of this class. You too, Rory."

[Continued in the OCD threads which will be up in a moment are up. Rory will have her own thread for the writing assignment, so watch for that. Writing assignment is up. Give it to Rory by next Thursday.

And now there is toast. You know what kind.]

"He's not just a mime though," Angel said. "He's the brother in law."

"Wait, the mime is the father of the estranged, transvestive, hooker nephew? That would explain a few things."

Re: Crime & Punishment [Class 10]

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"If your dad was a mime, wouldn't you be a little estranged too?" Angel pointed out.

"True enough," Callisto nodded. "But that still doesn't explain how the mime actually managed to kill him. With all the getting caught in invisble boxes and the like the victim had plenty of time to get away."

"Hmm, good point," Angel said. He reached over to brush at a piece of glitter on Callisto's arm. "Plus hard to stab somebody with a knife that's not there."

"Maybe it's a set up then, or a conspiracy?" Callisto suggested. If she shivered it was because Angel's fingers were cold, no other reason.

"The mime wasn't acting alone?" If Angel's fingers lingered on her arm it was because glitter was awfully hard to get off.

"There's no greasepaint on the crimescene," Callisto pointed out. If Callisto started rubbing the back of his hand, well, she wasn't the only glitterfied person here. "Set up the crimescene to lok like the mime did it, while leaving no hard evdiece and while they're busy chasing him down, the real killer makes off."

"Couldn't he have taken the paint off before he got there?" Angel asked. "Who'd recognize him without it on anyway?"

If Angel threaded his fingers through Callisto's, it was because he was trying to keep her from getting more glitter on herself. No other reason.

"Do you know of any mime that would willingly take the greasepaint off?" Callisto replied.

If there were doofy smiles, it was purely because Callisto appreciated Angel being considerate like that.

"I don't know any mimes, period," Angel replied.

If his thumb rubbed her hand, it was just trying to get at that pesky glitter.

Callisto snickered. "Good, because I don't know if I could continue to go out with someone who knew mimes."

If Callisto suddenly found Angel to be of much more interest than the show, it was only because she just noticed a smear of glitter on his cheek. Really.

Sam countered, "I don't think it's the mime, Angel. These episodes always have a twist in them. The mime's too evil obvious to be the bad guy."

"I think it's the dead guy's sister. She was looking at Boscoe really funny."

"Which sister?" Angel asked. "The singer or the proctologist?"

Re: Crime & Punishment [Class 10]

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"The proctologist." She shuddered. "Anyone who would choose that as a medical specialty had got to have something a little wrong with them anyway."

"What's her movtive though?" Angel said. "She had a good life when he was alive."

Re: Crime & Punishment [Class 10]

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"She's repressing something about their relationship. Probably sexual abuse."

Re: Crime & Punishment [Class 10]

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Angel cocked his head to the side. "Do you think she was abused by the mime?"

Re: Crime & Punishment [Class 10]

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam began to wonder about Angel's mime fixation. "I'm not completely sure. The mime's cagey."

"No, that's just the invisible box he's trapped in."

Re: Crime & Punishment [Class 10]

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Poor guy's probably claustrophobic. I know I would be, if I spent my life in an invisible box."

Re: Crime & Punishment [Class 10]

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmm. You know the murder happened in a small space. It might've been hard for him to get in there."

Re: Crime & Punishment [Class 10]

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Or maybe the stress of being in the small space is what made him snap?"
