Library is Open, Wednesday 2/1

Zero opens the Library and heads back into the stacks, returning a few minutes later with that which she sought: The Amethyst Flower, the sequel to The Jade Flower. Today, there will be silly romance novels, and it will be good.

Chapter 1. We meet our heroine, Amethyst Flower--Ammy to her friends. Her parents, the Dread Pirate Frykin and the Jade Flower, seem to be missing. Oh no!

Chapter 4. Ammy is kidnapped by Running Wolf MacGregor, a half-Scottish, half-Native American (or 'Indian' as the book calls him) man with some sort of mysterious past. Zero can't quite work out why she lets him kidnap her. She's half-ninja, half-pirate, after all. Surely the girl's got moves.

Chapter 9. An evil sheikh comes onto the scene. Turns out he's got Ammy's parents held hostage down in Colombia with the coffee, and he wants Ammy's long, flowing black hair and sparkling violet eyes for himself.

Chapter 13. Though she resists, Amethyst Flower is falling in love with Running Wolf MacGregor. Then there is the overly flowery sexing.

The Library is closed so that the library aides may eat their lunch in peace. Zero munches a peanut butter sandwich while reading.

Chapter 16. The evil sheikh threatens to kill Jade Flower and the Dread Pirate Frykin unless Ammy is given over to him. Zero wonders why Jade hasn't killed this guy yet. Running Wolf MacGregor challenges him to a duel.

Chapter 21. Running Wolf MacGregor fights the evil sheikh while Ammy singlehandedly holds off all his men. There are those moves Zero knew she had to have. He's stabbed in a way that Zero is pretty sure should be fatal, but Ammy doesn't seem too concerned. Huh.

Chapter 25. Running Wolf MacGregor's deep secret is revealed. He's a werewolf. Amethyst Flower, being half-ninja and all, has known since chapter five. Zero still says that sword wound should've been fatal. They have more flowery sex--ewww, he's still bloody!--and get around to actually rescuing her parents.

Epilogue. Jade Flower and the Dread Pirate Frykin give Running Wolf and Ammy a ship as a wedding present. And they all live happily ever after. Or something.

Eighth strides into the library and sees the young woman intently reading. "I hate to bother you," she says smoothly. "But could you help me for a moment?"

Cameron heads into the library to look up some books on sword fighting techniques for Self-Defense class.

Angela comes in after math class and raises her eyebrows at Zero's book. "Another one?" she asks. "What's happening this time?"

Darn. Just when she thought the big secret was going to be revealed. Zero looked up and said, "Of course, professor. How can I help you?"

"The pirate and the ninja are missing, and their daughter dressed as a noblewoman to find out what happened to them. This got her kidnapped by the son of an Apache princess and a Highlands chieftan. Funny how these things happen, isn't it?"

Rory came in after journalism in a fairly bad mood, but smiled at Zero's book.

"High quality reading?" she asked wryly.

Zero bursts into laughter at a passage in the book. "Oh...hi, Cam." Then she starts giggling some more.

"Oh, yes, this is high-quality literature right here." Zero shows Rory the cover, in which a tall, buxom woman she assumes is meant to be slender, petite Ammy swoons in the arms of an overly muscled shirtless Native type. Funny, Ammy in the book doesn't seem the swooning sort.

Rory's back to typing on her laptop again, though she's got a whole shifty-eyed thing going on.

Rory arched a brow. "Please, please tell me it's assigned for a class. Because that would be hysterical.

"Yeah, especially because I don't think there were Apaches in Scotland in 1700. I guess they can bond over having weird parents, if she gets over the kidnapping thing."

"Working on stuff for study group?," Angela asks, when she's pretty sure Zero's out of earshot.

"No, he was born in America. It doesn't really explain that." Zero scowls at her book. "He's really lucky she hasn't skewered him yet. I guess those fancy dresses were hard to move about in, but she's got to have a knife somewhere. She's a pirate-ninja!"

"Oh, how I wish. Which teacher do you think would assign something like this? So I can be sure to take their classes next year."

"Professor Skeeter so would. She's a twit, though," Rory mused. And let's ignore the fact that her player cannot read her own schedule, and Rory should actually *be* in that class in 3rd. *is an idiot and will have her skip for continuity, omg*

"Why would a pirate-ninja bother with the dresses anyhow? You can't really kick ass in a corset." Angela looks speculative. "Unless she uses the corset to hide the knives. Maybe she's trying to play helpless until he falls asleep,or something."

"Uh huh. I'm going shopping on my own this afternoon," Rory said quietly. "Making a list."
