Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

"The pleasure like your gold is mine." Edmund took her hand and marveled at the contained strength of the girl's grip. Not that you could tell by the look on his face.

He finished dealing and eyed his hand. "Have you been in school here long, Miss Longstocking?"

"Oh no." she said looking at her own hand.

"I've been spending most of my time sailing the world with my Papa, and living at Villa Villekulla."

Edmund played through his part of the first stage, collecting chips for the pay cards in his hand. While his mun was cursing for selecting an historically accurate but pain in the ass game.

"Is your Papa a merchant? What a novel name, Villa Villekulla." Was her Papa looking for a gold digging son-in-law looking for early retirement?

Pippi played through her part of the first stage, also collecting chips for her pay cards completely ignoring the fact that the website shows a min of three players and her mun really doesn't have time to read the rules in a way that she understands them for the historically accurate but pain in the ass game that she'd probably like to actually learn to play someday, even though she was supposed to be good at cards.

"No silly, we're pirates."

"Pirates. That explains the gold. Piracy can be a fine old tradition."

With fine old sharp implements coming at a person unexpectedly. A card slid farther up Edmund's sleeve rather than dropping down into his hand.

"Oh yes, the family has a longstanding maritime tradition."

She says putting down her cards for the third stage.

"I just have two pair. A pair of ones, and another pair of ones."

Edmund wordlessly pushed a shilling across the table to Pippi.

He'd been rooked by a ginger.

He was going to need to kick Baldrick soon.

"Miss Longstocking, why don't you select the next game?" He made a mental note to get back everything he lost in surcharges on her purchases at All and Sundries.

Pippi decided to wager the nasty silver coin she'd just won.

She opened up the Clue and the Monopoly, pillaging them for dice.

"How about Ship, Captain, and crew (http://www.gamecabinet.com/rules/ShipCaptainCrew.html)?"

Edmund pushed another shilling out onto the table.

"You'll have to humor me, though. Do you play 1, 2, 3 or 4, 5, 6?"

"4, 5, 6. Of course." said Pippi placing the plastic and completely honest die on the table.

"So what brings you here to Fandom Ed? It can't be the weather."

Edmund's mun, professional geek that she is, has a bag of dice within reach to roll.

His first flop was a six, a four, two threes, and a two.

"Business. I own All and Sundries. Why did your Pappa send you here to go to school?"

Pippi's mun, having finished her D&D game, can now roll her dice for this game rather then for damage against Barghasts.

Pippi rolled two 6's, two 5's, and a two.
"Damn, wish I could have rolled that against those Rat-Men rogues."

"He didn't send me. He's out terrorizing the 7 seas. I sent myself..." She kept one 6 and one 5.

"First I told myself nicely. 'Pippi, you should really get an education.' But I didn't listen. So then I had to tell myself more sternly, 'Pippilotta you call up your friend Annika and ask her to help you find a proper school right this instant!' ... I almost never get cross, so when I hear myself raising my voice at me I know I'm serious."

Holding the prior six, Edmund rolled four, three, two, and one. Sadly, he wasn't playing Yahtzee.

The surcharge on her future All and Sundries bills went up.

And she was a strangely familiar sort of loon. He had a sudden strange anachronistic gratitude that she couldn't order his beheading.

"And so you hied yourself off to this institution. An excellent choice, my dear."

If she could read Blackadder's thoughts Pippi wouldn't think she'd want to be the sort of person who orders a beheading. She's more likely to grow up and be the kind of woman who just lops it off herself.

"I think so. This is ever such a nicer school then the one I tried before... And It's certainly better then having to be cross with myself. I can be very stern sometimes."

Biting her lower lip in concentration, Pippi rolls a 4,3,5.

Good thing there was an NPC Market...

Edmund put on a good, if strained, face and slid another shilling across the table.

"Miss Longstocking, your luck tonight outstrips mine. You will have to come to my shop and allow me to give you a congratulatory cup of tea as well."

Re: GAMES PEOPLE PLAY - POKER

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Pippi tilted her head...

"Outstrips you? But you've still got your clothes on..."

She seems confused.

She'd heard something about the other students playing a game for eachothers clothing, but she hadn't been aware that she was playing it with this fellow she'd just met.

She wondered if it would get her more detention.

Oh delightful. She was as literal minded as Baldric.

Speaking more slowly and enunciating carefully, he clarified, "No, dear, I mean that your luck is better than mine because we know that God favors fools and madmen."

He might be feeling rather peevish, but he was putting a good face on it.

"That's good, because I'm not sure I could handle any creepy pie or getting bit again."

Re: GAMES PEOPLE PLAY - POKER

[identity profile] blackadder-nth.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
Edmund didn't blink. He'd heard stranger non sequiters. "Of course not, no creepy pie or biting from me, I assure you. However, I believe that all of the excitement of meeting you has left me completely wrung out - tired," he amended. "And I think I shall have to find a bed."

Re: GAMES PEOPLE PLAY - POKER

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Well there are some cots available still I think, and there are beds in 506 if you don't mind rooming with a monkey and a horse."

She glanced down at the two silver coins though she couldn't for the life of her think what to do with the nasty little things. Maybe Mr. Neilson would like to play with them.

"Good night Ed." She said slipping them into her pocket. "It was very nice meeting you."

"I shan't forget meeting you, I promise," Edmund said in a manner that was kissing cousins to pleasant.

The girl gambled with gold. He could afford to be polite.
