Investigator's Club, the Library -- NFB

After kicking out everyone who wasn't a library aide, a Librarian, or incipient club member, Parker hung a sign on the outside door:

INVESTIGATOR'S CLUB MEETING
PRIVATE

Then adjourned to the counter, where the brownies, drinks, cookies, and fudge were.

Hopefully, more than just Marty, Zero, Janet and the Souled Wonder were going to show.

Rory nodded thoughtfully. "So we just have to make sure he has no sex. Easy."

She was about to say more when Bridge bounced up to her side.

"Hey, Rory?" Bridge says. "Uh, there's something I think you should know. About Angel."

Rory sighs, and with a quick nod to Logan and Xander, turns her attention to Bridge. "What now? That he's heavy? This I knew."

Bridge sticks her tongue out at her. "No, this is about..." he does a vague handwavy motion. "Remember how I told you I could, like, read auras and emotions and stuff?"

"Um, yeah. You did it to me, remember?" Rory says, smiling.

"Right. Okay, so I asked Angel if I could do it to him, 'cause I wasn't sure if I should just trust what people told me to believe about him being good. And it was... he's not evil," Bridge says solemnly, "and trust me, I'd know if he were, 'cause that's the one thing I've been especially working on being able to detect with my abilities."

Rory stares at Bridge, and finally shifts her gaze to where Angel was across the room. "He's not?" she asks softly. "You're positive?"

Bridge nods solemnly. "Absolutely, one hundred percent sure."

Rory bites her lip. "Did it say that he's good, or just...not evil?"

"Good," Bridge nods. "I mean, well, everybody, soul or not, has the capacity for evil. But Angel's not interested in just being not-evil. He wants to actively help people, you know?

Rory looks deeply disturbed by this information as she watches Angel.

"Oh. Hmm. That's...interesting." She glances back at Bridge. "And you're sure he can't be faking it?"

If Bridge were the type to scowl, he probably would. As he isn't, he settles for frowning slightly and sticking his tongue out at Rory.

"You can't fake an aura," is all he says.

Rory manages a weak smile. "Not doubting your abilities, Bridgey. Just...he's messed with us before. I want to be absolutely sure."

"Well, you can be. This kinda stuff is what I do best," he says with a smile.

Xander and Logan are totally not listening. But not because they're talking about porn. Nope.

Xander snickers at Rory's comment, then turns to Logan. "This is actually the first time I've been this far into the library here," he says, looking around. "Ducked in to pick up a few books, but kind of avoided the place other than that. It's bigger than the one at my old school. Also hopefully lacks the portal to hell underneath it."

"It's got Special Collections," Logan said. He leaned back and stuck a foot on the table. "Don't know what's in there, but there might be a portal to hell." He paused. "Well, I do know one thing that's in there," he said with a grin.

Logan snorted. "If one ever existed, Bristow probably had all the copies burned. I think he likes keeping us in the dark. No, according to my girlfriend, the library aide, that's where the librarian keeps his porn."

Xander raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really." Then he made a face. "And ok, no, no, no, with the mental images of my last librarian having a porn stash. Bad. I banish thee."
