The Library is Open - 11/17

Methos is bemusedly staring at his new pet, a salamander -- the kind that lives in fire. He managed to find a glass terranium that can withstand high heat and the salamander is happily ensconced in it. A sign in front of the terranium announces, "Name the Salamander!" and slips of paper, pens and a drop box are immediately to one side.

((Please only post names in comment thread for naming salamander.))

Chin high, shoulders back, self-confidence radiating from every inch of his tweed jacket, Wesley Wyndam-Pryce appears at the door of library, nearly buried under a stack of books. He is in no way averting his gaze from the student librarians. Not at all.

He strides up to Prof. Methos. "Sir? I have the list of assignments you requested."

Janet tries not to snicker.

She doesn't try too hard.

But she does try. Really.

Well, that's certainly a start. *dangles library card enticingly from behind the desk*

Gentlemen don't fight with ladies gentlemen don't fight with fiends from Hell ladies gentlemen don't fight with ladies

Still avoiding eye contact (thank God for really tall stacks of books), he says, "Is Prof. Methos available?"

No, sorry, I think he's a bit tied up at the moment. You're stuck with us.

He backs up a step. "I'll come back." He turns and begins to break for the door.

Don't you want your library card?

Only if it's not too much trouble. I understand you have many important duties to perform. [There's a trace of a snarl in the second sentence.]

Parker grins, and leans forward, fingernails tapping on the Collections counter. "It's so good that you do understand that. It shows a certain... appreciation. We approve."

With no small degree of effort, he manages to slide the book-stack on to the counter. You may be able to read the spines, if you squint, and might notice that the Necronomicon is on top of the stack, in a cheap library rebinding.

"Your approval must, of course, be my goal in life. May I have the card, if you please?"

*tilts her head curiously*

Where did those come from?

Parker narrows her eyes at the sight of the Necronomicon, recognizing the title from Zero's catalogging of it. "Waitaminit. Wait a damn minute. That's a black-sticker book. What are you doing with it?"

Then she points to Zero. "And then answer her question, please. (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/372645.html?thread=17568933#t17568933)"

Janet starts making a list of the titles.

"The Necronomicon?" she asks incredulously. "You did not get into Special Collections to get that." She gestures at the terrarium. "Trust me, you'd have a matching cage if you did."

Well, yes, the library does require a great deal of attention and maintenance. You may have noticed it's quite large--and that's not even dealing with the problems of shelving and cleaning Special Collections...

So. D'you know the words to 'My Heart Will Go On"?

No. Do you know the words to "Abuse of petty authority is the sign of a small mind?"

"If you sing it, I'll get my kazoo," Parker purrs at him. "How about, 'I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General'? With arm gestures?"

That was The Cock-Ups in '79, wasn' it? I suppose you could sing that one instead.

"She's right. Sometimes we even sleep here. Well, the Librarian does. And then he'd call us to deal with you." Parker smiles. "So. Deal."

Wesley contemplates the thought of anybody sleeping with the Three Witches, in or out of the library, and shudders.
