The Library is Open - 11/17

Methos is bemusedly staring at his new pet, a salamander -- the kind that lives in fire. He managed to find a glass terranium that can withstand high heat and the salamander is happily ensconced in it. A sign in front of the terranium announces, "Name the Salamander!" and slips of paper, pens and a drop box are immediately to one side.

((Please only post names in comment thread for naming salamander.))

With no small degree of effort, he manages to slide the book-stack on to the counter. You may be able to read the spines, if you squint, and might notice that the Necronomicon is on top of the stack, in a cheap library rebinding.

"Your approval must, of course, be my goal in life. May I have the card, if you please?"

*tilts her head curiously*

Where did those come from?

Parker narrows her eyes at the sight of the Necronomicon, recognizing the title from Zero's catalogging of it. "Waitaminit. Wait a damn minute. That's a black-sticker book. What are you doing with it?"

Then she points to Zero. "And then answer her question, please. (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/372645.html?thread=17568933#t17568933)"

Janet starts making a list of the titles.

"The Necronomicon?" she asks incredulously. "You did not get into Special Collections to get that." She gestures at the terrarium. "Trust me, you'd have a matching cage if you did."

He shrugs. "Sent from home."

Then why'd you need them in the first place, and why aren't they under lock an' key??

*scans down the list of titles* Squall, guys, these are black-sticker books!

Re: Paging Wesley Wyndham Pryce

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker's expression has become *very* dark. "Exactly why do you want to look at our Special Collection copies? What the hell are you trying to suck us into? Hell?"

Frankly, I doubt you'd find the surroundings unfamiliar. These are my books, and none of your concern! Where the devil did you learn about these titles anyway? What's the point of having arcana if any schoolgirl can intershelve them with Winnie-the-Pooh?

"Well, you're the one who's leaving them around unsupervised!" exclaimed Janet. "Because I highly doubt you carry them with you everywhere you go, and I also doubt you never leave your room unguarded."

They're locked away and under ward, thanks so much for asking. Because one never knows who may be entering one's room surreptitiously.

"Lovely," said Janet. "And yet, still not safe."

Parker sneers at him. "Listen up, schoolgirl. We're the librarian assistants, it's our job to know this stuff. Those things are so dangerous they might as well be guns or thermonclear weapons. And if you think the point of 'arcana' is one-upmanship, you damn well shouldn't be playing with them, or allowed access to more."

I'm not the one who turned myself into a bloody feline. I think that should settle the question of who's qualified to deal with firearms. When I had those books, they were lying perfectly peacefully in a box. It's your mauve-tinted friend who caused all the trouble!

"I don't answer to you, madam. And they can only be black-sticker books if they belong to the library, which they don't." He grabs the stack again.

*reaches for the books* They can be dangerous no matter who they belong to--

Janet grabs the library card, which has fallen to the desk, and locks it up.

"You're not touching our library until you tell us what you did with Zero." She glares at Wesley. "Sit. Down. Now." She points at a chair.

"I don't speak Cat!" exclaimed Janet. "Parker, do you?"

She glares at Wesley again. "Oh, you get an extra song and dance number for that one. Undo it. Now."

But--but-but--- I didn't DO anything! (taking a deep breath and dropping his shoulders) It's not my fault if she meddled with matters too deep for her.

"Damnit! No, I was going to take that next semester!" She pets Zero on the head, her expression deeply distressed, then Parker turns an even blacker glare on Wesley. "Undo it NOW!"

Re: Paging Wesley Wyndham Pryce

Wesley jumps back three feet and drops all the books. At least one spine splits. "Bloody HELL!" Ah, coincidence
