The Elements of Friendship, Thursday, Period 1

The students had all received totally handwavey instructions to come to class this morning in their pajamas -- Pinkie might not wear them herself, but she at least knew what they were -- and be prepared "for tons of fun!"

This was hopefully a sign that they wouldn't be thrown down any cliffs, but with Pinkie, it was sometimes hard to tell.

Upon entering, they'd find the Danger Shop had been configured into a cozy tree house library, with a fire place on one end of the room and a lofted sleeping area under a large circular window lining the other. Outside the window, a storm was raging.

It was a dark and stormy first period class, but at least there was hot cocoa and s'mores set up near the fire.

Pinkie came in from a side entrance when it seemed like everyone had gathered. She wore a yellow rain slicker and her umbrella hat, and shook Danger Shop rain water from her like a wet dog once she was through the door.

"Welcome back, everypony!" she said. "I hope you all had a super fantastic amazing fall break! I know I did! Wasn't the food amazing?" Pinkie had not gone on the school sponsored trip. She'd spent the entire week in town feasting on muffins. "Now that you're back, I thought this would be the perfect time to enjoy one of the great hallmarks of any friendship: the SLUMBER PARTY!" She threw her front hooves into the air, somehow setting off a rain of confetti. "Dark and gloomy times can be the best for cozying up with your favorite friends and some good party games. My friend Twilight Sparkle even loaned me one of her very favorite books to help get the class organized: Slumber Parties 101! So let's get to it!"

Annie thought it was kind of neat to have a class like this first thing in the morning, even if she changed into different pajamas (http://media.kohls.com.edgesuite.net/is/image/kohls/921571_Gray_Heart_And_Lips?wid=400&hei=400&op_sharpen=1) between waking up and showering and coming to class. She could deal with being comfortable with some cocoa.

It's entirely possible Bobby might have showed up to class pyjama-clad even without the notification- that sort of thing was bound to happen when you were jet-and-portal-lagged due to getting back to Fandom at an hour of morning that no sane person was awake for. So, yeah, looking enviously over at all those pillows.

Rilla's nightwear (http://vintagetextile.com/images/Thumbnails/4021thumb2.jpg) was a lot little more ornate than most of the girls were wearing, but she was used to that based on a few other slumber parties she'd attended. She sipped on a mug of chocolate and glanced around excitedly.

Miley pulled on one of the spa robes and settled down excitedly for a makeover.

"Anyone up for a manicure exchange?" she called to her classmates, waving a bottle of sparkly orange nail polish (http://www.alllacqueredup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/painted-nail-nubar-citrus-sparkle-nail-polish-nail-files-summer-2011.jpg) in the air.

Chuck was avoiding the makeovers and was bad with scary stories, so... lots of cushions it was. He was great with those. A pillow fort king.

It's all going super well, until lightning strikes a neighboring tree, sending the top of it crashing down through that giant circular window.

What's a slumber party without a little structural damage?

Better get that thing cleaned up and out of the way, and board that window over before the raging storm ruins the whole party!
