The students had all received ~~totally handwavey~~ instructions to come to class this morning in their pajamas -- Pinkie might not wear them herself, but she at least knew what they were -- and be prepared "for tons of fun!"

This was hopefully a sign that they wouldn't be thrown down any cliffs, but with Pinkie, it was sometimes hard to tell.

Upon entering, they'd find the Danger Shop had been configured into a cozy tree house library, with a fire place on one end of the room and a lofted sleeping area under a large circular window lining the other. Outside the window, a storm was raging.

It was a dark and stormy first period class, but at least there was hot cocoa and s'mores set up near the fire.

Pinkie came in from a side entrance when it seemed like everyone had gathered. She wore a yellow rain slicker and her umbrella hat, and shook Danger Shop rain water from her like a wet dog once she was through the door.

"Welcome back, everypony!" she said. "I hope you all had a super fantastic amazing fall break! I know I did! Wasn't the food amazing?" Pinkie had not gone on the school sponsored trip. She'd spent the entire week in town feasting on muffins. "Now that you're back, I thought this would be the perfect time to enjoy one of the great hallmarks of any friendship: the SLUMBER PARTY!" She threw her front hooves into the air, somehow setting off a rain of confetti. "Dark and gloomy times can be the best for cozying up with your favorite friends and some good party games. My friend Twilight Sparkle even loaned me one of her very favorite books to help get the class organized: Slumber Parties 101! So let's get to it!"

Annie took one look at the color and asked, "Are you putting on the orange or want it put on you?" Because that would determine her answer.

"For me," Miley clarified. "I got, like, the world's cuest homecoming dress, so. And plus, Halloween theme!"

In case Annie was curious about the rationale.

Annie held her hand out for the bottle. "If you help me pick out what goes with teal."

"Hmm," Miley said, handing over the orange and surveying the rest of the options. "Maybe a silver (http://styletips101.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/zoya-nail-polish.jpg)? Or a chocolate brown (http://thehut.pantherssl.com/productimg/0/600/600/38/10417338-1311004079-172498.jpg)?"

She took the bottle, shaking it as she looked at the colors. "You don't think the brown's a little... brown?"

She sort of really liked it, but she'd never done brown before. You must see her apprehension.

"No, it's totally cute!" Miley assured her. "Is the dress, like, a light-ish teal?"

"Yeah. Is that good?" Not that Annie didn't look put-together or anything, but Miley sort of seemed like she had a better idea of things when it came to this stuff.

"Yep! Totally! Then you'll want something dark and earthy like this one here." She tapped the brown, nodding with certainty.

Annie probably didn't want to hear about how Miley's style tastes had been ridiculed at her old school, right?

Nope!

"Then I'll go with that," Annie said, and uncapped the orange. "So is your dress orange?"

"Nope," Miley said, shifting to lay on her stomach and hold out her fingers for Annie. "Kind of a dark purple? But it works, I promise."

It didn't work.

It didn't really sound like it did.

"Ooh, that sounds pretty," she said anyway, starting to apply the polish to Miley's nails. "I think this is the most I've ever talked about dresses."

Because no one ever talked dresses with her.

Yeah, funny thing about Miley? Her fashion sense as Hannah Montana was kind of awesome. Her fashion sense as Miley Stewart, on the other hand... could use some work.

"Well, it is Homecoming," Miley pointed out, as if that explained everything. "What about shoes? Open-toed? It's kind of way too cold for them, but I think I might tough it out."

"I'm going with closed. Mainly because the ones I have are more comfortable, and I don't want to spend all night complaining about my feet," she reasoned.

"Good call," Miley approved, nodding. "Kelly Clarkson did that at a party once." She clucked her tongue in disappointment. "And to think I almost gave her birthday toast last year."

Ummm...

"Friend of yours?" Annie guessed. "I bet she gets people thinking she's the singer all the time."

"Yeeeeees." Miley nodded. So, so convincingly. "That. Yes."
