Talking Is A Free Action - 21/7 - Thursday

There was something written on the board when students arrived for class today.

villainous monologues

"Now, some of you all might have experience with this subject," Deadpool said. "Either giving or receiving. Possibly dirty."

He didn't judge your kinky ways! Much.

"You know how it is, their nefarious plan is mere seconds from completion and they have the plucky hero right where they want him. And they just wanna lord over 'em. It's slightly less expensive than therapy or comic book collecting. Which, as we all know, is only one step down from crack."

He held up a comic book. "Deadpool volume 2, issue 41 is available August 10th!"

Helpful.

"Enough shameless self promotion! Partner off," he demanded. "One of you will be the babbling villain and the other the helpless hero. And of you really want to get into character, try shouting a lot. It's the super cool thing to do! Just ask Doctor Doom. Though, with him, it could be an unfortunate speech impediment..."

Wesley looked around for a partner, and he was rather hoping to play the villain part. Babbling Talking incessantly was something he did fairly well.

Playing the helpless hero while a villain monologued was Hank's specialty.

Don't ask how he'd managed to tie himself to his own chair. Or where the rope came from. Or if he'd been practicing the maneuver.

"You'll never get away with this, Mr. Stinky-Pants Poop-Face Icky Doodie Guy!!!"

Wesley blinked. Well. All right then.

"Oh, well, I rather hoped I would," he protested. Off to a weak start, Wes. "You see, ah, Hero, I've concocted quite a cunning plan. Evil, really. And as you can see, I've already got you, er... immobilized." Was that a villain word? Never mind, keep going. "I'm afraid you're trapped, my good man. Quite unfortunate, really."

...God. It was a good thing he'd picked Team Angel. A career in villainry would really not work out for him.

"Oh, come on, seriously, is that the best you can do?!?!" Hank sighed and hung his head in disappointment. "Look, back that up and try it again. Sound more EEEVIL this time."

Wesley frowned. "Are you quite certain?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. "I thought it was rather menacing, to be quite honest."

"You're about as menacing as a fluffy bunny," Hank retorted. "In a tutu. With pigtails. And bunny slippers." He sighed. "Look, how many times have you seen it done? Just copy off of someone else -- all the villains do that, anyway."

"Uh..."

Jack floundered for a second before holding up his pencil. "Um. You can't stop me now, hero. When I press this button... um.. You will be sent into a time loop that you can't escape which will eventually end all life as we know it. All will know me as... Dr. Sleeveless*! Conquerer."

Jack then attempted an evil laugh. It was more of a half-hearted semi-evil chuckle.

*Note: Jack has no sleeves on his shirt. Hence the dumb name. Carry on.

"... Conqueror of what, exactly?"

Yeah, Jim had to comment on this one. Because... Because he had to. That's why.

"I mean, if you destroy all life as we know it, there won't exactly be much to rule. Since you'll be dead too, and all."

Have some logic, Dr. Sleeveless!

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh. Yes! But at least I'll be the victor and you will be dead! That is all that matters for I am... MAD! MAD I SAY!"

Getting a bit over the top there, Jack.

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess, going by that logic, you won't be mad for too long," Jim mused, putting on a serious face and trying like hell to bite back a little smile. "I mean, wouldn't it be a shame if you weren't even around to appreciate your own victory?"

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Do not try logic on me, Ponytail Man!" Jack decreed. "For I am... MAD!"

Then Jack dropped character for a second.

"I did mention I was mad before, right? As in crazy not angry."

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm pretty sure it got a mention in there somewhere," Jim assured Jack, smiling a little bit. "But I'm just saying, it would sure be a shame to waste all of that perfectly good madness on something as silly as mass destruction clear across the multiverse. Just think of all of the good things you'd be wiping out. Like Twinkies."

Please, don't as Jim to list anything else off. Twinkies were about the upper limit on his pop-culture and delicious foodstuffs awareness.

Cara did not look happy at this exercise. Of course she didn't look unhappy either, so much as very determinedly blank-faced.

Alexander doubted his ability to be a villain, but he felt he should probably challenge himself as well. Still, he looked around for a ready partner, and he thought he found one. He hoped.

"So," he said, tilting his head thoughtfully at Cara while stroking his chin, a gesture he figured could be both heroic and villainous. "Are you feeling more heroic or more villainous today?"

Cara shrugged. "I've never been a fan of speeches." And she doubted Alexander would enjoy being on the receiving end of everything else she associated with giving them.

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmmm." Alexander gave an interested, thoughtful sort of hum at that, nodding a little. "I can see why one might not be, which makes one wonder: are they really so necessary? Deadpool may suggest they have a purpose, but, in the greater scheme of things, does one not find that a man...or woman...who speaks too much on his intentions merely gives the hero more time to vanquish them? It seems a bad habit to get into, overall."

"They can be useful." Usually when coupled with a careful application of an agiel. "But mostly it's a case of the speaker loving the sound of their own voice."

Not that serving Rahl had left Cara cynical or anything.

Alexander grinned a little at that. "Which probably makes it quite easy for the other person to use their monologues to their advantage. I'm afraid I'm quite in a tricky spot here; the biggest foe I've taken on rarely spoke at all. Comparatively, my experience has been practically silent..."

Bart grinned a big, silly grin. He was good at playing villain. They were all ridiculous. He could even show off his batman voice. He knew it was a good voice since it made Tim glare at him. Yeah, that would work.

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] whitequeensfire.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Um, hi," Angelica said, seeing Bart without a partner. "Do you want to work together on this?"

She was hoping he'd want to be the villain because she had no clue.

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] bigshoestofill.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Bart stood up hands raised in an evil pose. "Bwahaha! You have no idea what you're getting yourself into. You've fallen right into my trap!"

He coughed. His hair flopped in front of his face. "Um... Hi. I'm Bart."

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] whitequeensfire.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Angelica giggled. "I'm Angelica," she said. "Does that mean you want to be the bad guy?"

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] bigshoestofill.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Bart thought. "Um. Unless you want to do it."

He grinned. "My friends always glared at me whenever I tried this back home."

Re: Pair Up

[identity profile] whitequeensfire.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't think I'd be a good villain," Angelica admitted. Emma would be so disappointed in her.

"And I promise I won't glare," she added. Laugh, maybe.
