Library [12-8]

Dan didn't know why he braved the stinktastic bog outside the school to come here today. Maybe out of some nerd loyalty. Whatever the reason, he was here and pretending nothing weird was going on because denial was the best medicine. Or something.

Raven had managed to so far refrain from attempting to enter the labyrinth that morning and instead put her focus on finding more information. Her father wasn't making it easy.

You can walk right in and find them, Daughter. All you have to do is accept what you are....

Okay, so it had taken Jono a while to actually think about coming into the library today. Yesterday had been spent contemplating the state of affairs outside the dorms (mostly, that bog around the school), and it was only after listening to the evening broadcast that he'd realized that people were gathering here, as well, for research purposes.

For a guy who spent every Sunday in this room come hell or high water, you'd think hat he'd twig on to these matters more quickly.

In any case, he was stepping up behind Raven from behind, reaching to rest a hand on her shoulder. She looked as though she could use it.

In between his other (read: reserve) obligations, Dolf was in the library, poking through books. He was already starting to feel frustrated at his inability to do much of anything; he resolved to at least look after the food issue soon.

It might make him feel moderately more helpful.

While it might have been more personally satisfying to go out and shoot the goblins that were skulking about, Dru figured there was a better chance of figuring out what was going on if she hit the library.

Coffee near to hand, Dru had her nose buried in a book.

Pff. Like Sherlock actually left the library last night. Or stopped working for anything more than a hearty meal of coffee.

Because all of that was totally healthy, you know. Totally.

Re: Mod the Library

[identity profile] justhisblogger.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
A small bag of Chinese food was dropped on the table in front of Sherlock.

"For when this is over," John clarified. He knew Sherlock's 'no eating while I'm working' rule well enough, thanks.

Not that she imagined it was doing much good, Angua came to the library today with a safety pin securely clamped on her nose and a few fragrant pouches of potpourri tied to her belt. It did help, even if only minutely, to get her to a spot where she wasn't just ill from the terrible colours that flashed through her nose with that bloody bog.

She was pretty sure she'd be useless today, but at least she was making an effort.

William didn't exactly have a lot of (or any) experience with the supernatural, so he wasn't entirely confident of his ability to help. Still, he didn't like the idea of there being something out there that he didn't understand, so here he was.

Re: Mod the Library

[identity profile] 3patchproblem.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It probably helped that Sherlock was doing well to completely disregard the 'magical' aspects of the research. It was that or tear his hair out at how utterly illogical it all was.

"William," he drawled, not showing any sign that he actually saw the boy beyond that. There was internet to troll through! Shiny, shiny internet.

Rinoa hadn't slept much. In the middle of the night, it had occurred to her that there was a very real chance that the captives were being tortured, or even killed, while she was lying there coming up with reasons not to use her powers. Ones that might save their lives, except that she was too scared of the consequences to herself.

It wasn't so simple as that, and some rational, sane part of herself knew that, but what you can believe at 3 am isn't always what's sane.

Rinoa was here. Rinoa was hitting the caffeine pretty hard. Rinoa was trying to research, and not throw books around the room in a childish sort of tantrum.

Christian hovered near her, making occasional trips back tot he stacks to get more books of folklore. He wasn't making much headway, but it made him feel useful.

Besides, he didn't want to leave Rinoa alone unless he had to. He tried to be quietly reassuring, if he could.

Ben was running a bit behind today--his research had taken a slightly different bent than just internet or books today.

And then there had been Sir Didymus, and a reserve meeting, and his datapad had taken a bit of time to kick out anything in the way of useful results on the swamp.

So now he was cross-referencing "sulfur" against mythology, hoping to find something they could use.

Book after book after book...after book. If Jane weren't so focused on finding something, she would surely have enough raw materials to make a castle by now. But not a single clue just yet.

After reviewing what everyone else had come up with so far, Angua felt she was definitely onto something with the transcript she found and posted (http://sc-critters.livejournal.com/2564.html?thread=24324#t24324) with everything else on the whiteboard.

Once he found something of note, it was placed on the board and... Sherlock went right back to searching.

Because it wasn't really solved now, was it?

Henry was here, if twitchy. That was what living on coffee and being denied his usual morning run would do to a man. He went to the school gym, but that wasn't the same at all.
