Ethics [Tuesday, March 23, 2nd period]

Today Anakin's desk was covered with droid babies in bassinets. Each baby had a tiny stuffed Ewok tucked next to it. Hush.

"Today we talk about lust," Anakin said, pulling his attention back from the wall he'd been staring at, trying to get a handle on a bad feeling he'd been having since stepping foot on the island yesterday. "Or rather, the unintended consequences that can happen when you take action without precautions."

He smiled. Evilly. Some of his lesson plans might have changed this semester, but he had been looking forward to the droid babies with something close to unholy glee this go-around. "Meet your little projects for the next week. They're heavy, they cry, and they will record everything you do with them. So if you stuff them into a closet for the duration, believe me, I'll know."

After all, he'd built all of them.

He reached for a list of paper. "I've paired you up together." His smile turned a little more evil. "And some of your babies are a little fussier than others."

"Then I suppose me being assigned twins was just a coincidence," Leia said, clearly Not Buying It.

"Someone always gets twins," Anakin said blandly. "It was Jaina's boyfriend a few years ago."

Leia rolled her eyes. "For some reason that doesn't make me think it more likely to be a coincidence," she said. She glanced over toward Dan and smirked. "Fortunately, my 'husband' is content to take care of the babies while I attend to my duties."

"I heard some of that," Anakin said, not looking best pleased. "You're not a senator yet."

"I also don't have a child who isn't from years in the future yet," Leia pointed out. "I'm much older when I have Jaina."

"You have a fake child for the week which you should deal with like a genuine responsibility," Anakin said. "I don't foist Juliet off onto Rory because she's inconvenient for me."

"It's a droid, not a real child," Leia protested. "I'm hardly going to go out with Chuck Bass and give birth to a droid then next day." She picked Chuck's name because she figured it would annoy Anakin. "I wouldn't treat a real child that way. Besides, Dan was all for playing at being a father."

Anakin didn't look impressed. He'd heard stories from Jaina about parts of her childhood and was looking to nip those tendencies of Leia's in the bud.

"That's because you manipulated him into it," he said flatly.

"I merely explained the situation, and he agreed," Leia said. Which was true...from a certain point of view. See, not only did she remember her real mother from mere seconds after her own birth, she'd absorbed that gem of wisdom from Obi-Wan as well.

"And if you want me to learn about taking care of a child," she continued, "I'd rather watch Juliet than drag a droid around with me for a week. I have better things to do."

Illyria stalked over, droid-baby in hand, from where she'd been speaking with Arthur.

"Is consumption of the spawn permitted?" she asked, lifting it by one arm, stretching her jaw out, and gauging the relative merits of starting with the ankle or the thigh.

She shrugged. "It is the way of my people." It... mostly kind of was. Unless someone got really nesty, or there'd been a huge massacre and one's armies needed to be replenished. "The weak ones can be left to die on their own, but the stronger--" The thing screamed as if she'd actually started chewing already, instead of just dangling its foot over her mouth. "--should be devoured to prevent competition."

Slaughtering wholesale while evil, yes. Tasty snacks, no.
